Ikea Roman Blinds - Product Recall

roman blindThe U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of about 670,000 IKEA IRIS and ALVINE Roman Blinds. The blinds have an exposed inner cord on the backside, which is a hazard to young children. Earlier this year, a 1-year-old girl in Connecticut died after becoming entangled in one.

This recall involves all sizes of white IRIS and ALVINE Roman Blinds. The blinds have a sewn-in label at the top edge with the IKEA logo, article name (IRIS or ALVINE), 5-digit supplier number 19799 or 21369, four digit date stamp (YYWW) and the words "Made in India". On the bottom edge of the blind there is a sewn-in orange/white safety warning label. The blinds are made from 100% cotton.

These blinds were sol exclusively at IKEA stores nationwide from July 2005 through June 2008 for between $7 and $30 each.

If you have the recalled blinds, you should immediately take them down and return them to any IKEA store for a full refund. For more information, you can contact IKEA by calling (888) 966-4532 anytime, or by visiting their Web site.

Remember - exposed loop pull cords or exposed inner cords on the backs of blinds or shades are extremely dangerous to young children. If you have any blinds that are made this way, please consider replacing them.
