Children's Hooded Jackets - Product Recall

drawstring jacketsThe U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of about 1,500 Young Colors Children's Hooded Jackets. The jackets have drawstrings through the hood and waist that fail to meet the CPSC guidelines, which were issued in 1996 to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled.

These jackets were made in Peru and Indonesia for R&D International Inc., of Salida, Colorado and sold at specialty children's stores nationwide from April 2004 through September 2007 for about $45 each.

The cotton knit and woven hooded jackets were sold in sizes 12 months through 10 in a variety of solid colors and prints. "Young Colors" is sewn into the jacket tag located at the neck.

If you have one of the recalled jackets, you should remove the drawstrings to eliminate the hazard. For more information, contact R&D International Inc. by calling collect at (719) 539-3812 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. MT Monday through Friday, or by visiting their Web site.
