DailyDish - Decorate the Homemade Way

Why spend your hard-earned cash on things you can make yourself for a fraction of the price?christmas ornaments

Sure, you are going to have to spring for that cool electronic toy on your kid's list, but why not wrap it in homemade paper made from items around the house? Construction paper, foil, or decorated paper bags are perfect for wrapping gifts.

If you've got extra Christmas ornaments you aren't using on your tree, why not add them to your everyday door wreath instead of buying a special holiday one?

Maybe you don't have enough ornaments. If your tree is looking a little bare, decorate it with the Christmas cards you've received. Cut them up into stars, snowmen and angels and hang with ribbon. Christmas cards can also be used to make festive place mats and coasters.

Gold or silver painted pine cones in a glass bowl make a beautiful and affordable centerpiece for your table. If you can't find pine cones, fill the bowl with colorful ornaments.

Wrap a plain, clear jar with pretty ribbon for a do-it-yourself tealight holder.

Make a really bold statement by taking down a few of your pictures and wrapping them up like Christmas presents. Hang them back on the walls and wait for the compliments.

Get crafty and creative this year and you just might make it through the holidays without going into debt!
