Man Arrested for Posting Baby Swinging Video
Filed under: In The News
When I watched this video of a man swinging a baby in an alarming manner , I thought it was fake. Actually, I still think (and truly hope) it's not real. But shortly after I watched the original video, it was pulled from YouTube for violation of user agreement.
The news recently broke that the man who posted the video -- not the man who actually swung the baby, mind you -- is claiming he was arrested for intending to distribute child abuse material. He submitted the video, which he said he "found", to Live Leak, and they reported the video to authorities.
While this arrest is surprising, it's clear that authorities are actually going after Mr. Baby Swinger. That must mean that they, at least, think the video could actually be legit. If it is real, it's clearly a case of Parental Stupidity leading to the endangerment of a child.
But I still get the feeling that this entire thing is a a well-made (fake) video that, however misguided and sick, was intended to be a joke. The question is, at what point did the joke go too far?
These kids need to develop a thicker skin. Their parents scare us!

| Joke or no joke, nothing depicting child endangerment should ever be posted. | |
|---|---|
| The man IN the vdeo should be arrested. Leave the man who posted it alone. | |
| This joke was clearly a fake ... people need to lighten up. | |

Let kids have fun. The way told is the correct and SAFE way to do it. Not everything has to be done sitting down all nice and safe. When are the safe kids EVER going to learn to deal with the world. Just let kids be kids and parents, just be careful.

Angieslittlehelper said...blountman, I have read your comment thoroughly and I am all in to the parents can be stupid and ignorant. But, if I agreed to everything on your comment, then I would not be showing my rights as a human being.
Here's my stand.
1. I believe the person swinging the baby should go to jail, and to the person who posted it, also should have some time, but not as much. It was because of him, even though he did it the wrong way, that we found out about this case and we should be thankful for it. I do not think parents have been doing there job well lately you hear so many stories like or somewhat like this and parents still tend to ignore them, I think its quite sad, and dumb. Parents should do everything in their power to protect their children, and if not, should have them taken away.
2. About what you think about religion, first I am a atheist and if my school gave religious classes, I wouldn't go, do you know why? When people think about religion they think about God. Which is not a good thing, because there are more than thousands of religions, not just those centered around God. And guess what main thing they will be talking about in the religious class, God. I'm glad they took religion out of school and politics, so you can be yourself and not have people go against you and have the freedom of choosing your own religion without knowing your friends are watching you choose.
3. I do not believe it's because of lack of religion that is making people make their choices on crime and other things. It's because no one is helping them, and by helping I don't mean about talks about how God watches over you and stuff like that, but a non-religious help. It, surprisingly enough, will make them listen and can and will work. I've seen it done many times, talk to someone about a non-religious item, and they feel a lot more happy then if you talk to them about a religious thing, especially with teenagers.
4. Quote from you "As Christians, though, we don't stand up and fight for our rights like we should. Everyone else is shouting, sueing, etc. for theirs!" Think about why they are not standing up. Take a look at the history, not the bible, but the history of Christianity and look at the history of all the other religions. Sure it's not the worst, but to think thousands, no less millions, of people have lost their lives because of what the Christians believed. And even today, people are dieing if it, not Christians, but anyone who did not go by their ways. That has changed a lot now, but just like I said, it's still happening, even here in the U.S.
Sorry if I have sounded rude, and not on topic, but I just want to let it out there. I know many people who will look at your comments and call you a complete idiot, and even worst. You might think this is the way to solve everything, but you have not thought about others in the way you should have and in a way was very rude of you.
Thank you for taking the time to read all this through, you might have not wanted to but its good to have both sides of a conversation before you reach a verdict.

It's meant as harmless fun, but it can end up being dangerous if not done right. I can say I never got hurt. Neither did my three younger siblings. I know people who hoist their kids in the air and gently throw them up and catch them. They don't do it to hurt their children, they do it to see their child laugh and smile and giggle.

dragon said...my husband and i used to hold our child by the hand and then swing them between us this was by no means a vigorous or fast violent swing nonetheless our sons elbow dislocated. its called milk maids elbow and is very common, it is not longer recommended at all that parents swing their children by their arms or feet.
why would any parent want to scare the dickens out of a child then stand behind the camera and laugh! sick prick!

Tina said...It's stupid and sick to swing a baby or small child in that manner. My cousin did that to my other cousin and it tore her arm out of socket. My Dad had to take her to emergency so they could pop it back in place. There's no reason to ever swing a baby with that much force. Their brains are like jello and don't need to be swung around at such an early age. I hope they find the idiot who is in the video and to the one who posted it, good for him. If he hadn't have posted that video the jerk might still be swinging his baby!

USA use to mean more, little by little were losing the meaning of what we stood for and we better wake up before one day there's not going to be any thing left of our rights or anything even like this on the web where we can make comment's about. Just look how much we have changed in the last 20 years and how more up-tight people are getting before they even know the truth.

It's about using caution and common sense. As a kid I always preferred to play "Superman," where my dad would hold both his arms straight out, and I lied on them as if on a flat surface. Then he would (nice and easy) lift my body up in the air (holding me the whole time) and I pretended to fly like the man of steel.

Robert A. Salvi said...Clearly the man needs some education in the right and wrong of swinging a child, but arrest is going a bit far. I was raised in the country, on a farm, and I'm certain that should some of the ways in which we engineered to entertain ourselves were to be videoed, and shown on todays networks, the powers that be would surely be searching for whom ever allowed us to do what we were doing.
We stretched a cable from an oak tree, maybe 30 feet in the air, secured it to the bottom of a large sycamore tree. Cut pieces from bleach bottles, folded them so as to fit over the cable, and slid from one tree to the other. My cousins and I were maybe 7 or 8, had we fallen from the oak, who knows what could have happened. But we were enjoying ourselves, in the summer we bathed in the pond, used Ivory soap. We road on tractor fenders, from field to field, the rear tires right under out hands and butts, and we wasted no time. We may have been 10 when we were given the responsibility of moving the tractor. Then came cotton pickers, tobacco harvesters, corn combines, a couple of years later, very large and dangerous pieces of equipment. But the machines had to be where the work was being done, and we had to learn at an early age how to transport these machines from field to field. That was part of the work, and would certainly be shuned in todays world. I can't help but think what the big deal is, was the child hurt, was the child laughing, or crying? I don't believe the man would have filmed himself and posted it on Utube ahd he thought he was truly doing anything wrong. Some people in this country, really need a reality check, really.
