Jolie-Pitts - One Step Closer to Perfection
Just when it seemed you'd read every sappy tidbit about the picture-perfect Jolie-Pitts and their nigh-on-holy parenting prowess, it turns out these immaculate specimens are even more flawless than originally assumed. But no matter what they tell reporters, the Hollywood power couple don't exactly practice what they preach.

Brad recently told Hello! magazine that he and his family are too cool for fancy Christmas presents, saying: "We do exchange gifts, although we don't feel any pressure to make them big or expensive gifts."

And not only that -- the reason the kids don't ask for the latest cheap, plastic, Elmo-inspired gadgets is because they don't watch American cartoons, thereby avoiding all the "manipulative" ads run by toymakers.

Which, to be fair, is nice to hear. After all, in tough economic times, it's refreshing that even the wealthiest families taking a sensible approach to the holiday madness.
Or, it would be, if the Jolie-Pitts weren't just spouting off about their holier-than-thou approach to child rearing. 'Cause, as it turns out, Angelina can be quite the spendthrift.

Angie recently ordered a 2009 Ducati 1100s Monster for her hunky hubby's 45th birthday. The bike isn't available yet for us mere mortals, but when it is this hot ride will set you back $12,000.

And you may remember in September of last year, when blogs were buzzing with the news that Angelina had bought daughter Zahara a mini Valentino braided leather shoulder bag (to match the grown-up version she was carrying at the time -- then worth $1695).

Not that the Jolie-Pitts are horrible people (I mean, what else would you do with hundreds of millions of dollars to spend?) -- but next time you're bummed because your family doesn't live up to Brangelina's unattainable standards, remember that their squeaky-clean celebrity image is just as much PR spin as it is reality.

Jasi said...Lame post. All you've got is one motorcycle (still cheaper than a car) and a mini designer handbag purchased -last- year. Maybe it was even a gift.
I don't care either way about the Jolie-Pitts but this post was pretty petty.

katie said...I neither love nor hate this family, but what a petty article. You're criticizing the fact that they don't overspend at at Christmas? Yeah, so? Why is that bad? Oh wait, the poor kids don't watch cartoons--how awful! And look! Angelina bought her hubby a motorcycle! Gasp! They have a gazillion dollars AND give a ton to charity--and you think a motorcycle is an unreasonable gift? I didn't get anything out of what was reported other than pure jealousy.

Ton said...I have decided that since the rest of us are having to limit our spending. I am no longer going to go to anymore of Brad's or Angelina's movies. They are way over paid for their films. Let them and their children realize what the real world is all about.

Ruth said...I was wondering, with all of their money if they will be hiring tutors to teach each of the children the language of their native land.
I think that would be a good idea.

Ashley said...I hadnt thought about that, but that would be a great thing for any parent of children they had adopted from another country. I would totally give you a gold star if this was a class room and I was a teacher.
Anyway this whole article is just ridiculous...why would someone criticize a rich family for not totally spoiling their kids? Christmas isnt supposed to be about giving children a bunch of huge gifts. My family isnt even celebrating christmas this year. I'm the youngest (16 years old) so its not like any of us will be devistated if there isnt a tree or fancy food in the oven or any gifts.

ME~ said...I think who ever wrote this has totally missed the point. They arent saying they dont buy costly items for each other, they are saying that the children are not burried in sea's of empty plastic consumerism... They choose to buy gifts that have some relevance thats all...
As far as Ton's comment- Well I think the Katrina victoms would agree that this couple does realize what the real world is like, they do more than you can imagine to help people all over the world. They use their celebrity to the betterment of human kind because they do care. Your comment was out of line friend~

Michelle said...I am a parent to, and sometimes you say you're not going to over spend and you want to teach your child to be simple but you end up going overboard. You cant help but love your kids. So dont judge Brad and Angelina, they want their kids to be happy and that's first priority, so to hell with stupid statements.

HuH said...Why don't the older kids walk? Also if they don't have a nanny who has the kids? What they are better parents since they don't watch American Cartoons well everything my three year old wanted was things having to do with being a mommy not Dora.

JenniK said...I really could not care less about how celebrities spend their money. Nor do I really care about this family. But my question is, do they have a problem with America? They want their kids to be born in other countries, they adopt from other countries (rather than here where there are lots of children who need to be adopted) and now they don't watch "American cartoons." I don't undertstand. I mean I really don't care, but to be an American icon family.. I don't get it.

ninainindia said...So why should they adopt from America when their are lots of children that need help in the rest of the world? I never understand people that use your logic. You're saying children America deserve a better life more than children outside America?
If anything, a child in a n orphanage in Africa most likely has a far worse life than a child in one in the US. The chance of not making it to your 5th birthday when born is Africa is huge.

JenniK said...You're right. Guess we should abandon the needing children in our country. Sorry, you are totally right. You don't understand my logic? I think it makes perfect sense. And I also think there are many that would agree. You have a right to your opinion, and I have a right to mine.

How they spend their money is their business, they do a lot for those who are less fortunate then they.
I AGREE with one of the commentors that a worth while gift would be for the children to be tutored in their Native languages.
ALSO, why has'nt that Black Ethiopian girl not have a Black sister or brother to identify with as she is growing up? It's very important!
The reporters should ask the Jolie-Pitt couple.

and the stupid parents got to give them everything they did not have.

I hate the american way of spoiling there kids, its pathetic

JenniK said...Not all American kids are that way. So we should just stop being American? Learn the cultures of other countries and act accordingly. There are a lot of things in America that upset me. But I don't believe in just disowning your country because of how "other" American's act. You can choose how to raise you children and you don't have to use the influences of anti-America to do it.
