Nicole Kidman - Stay at Home Mom?

Nicole Kidman isn't shy about how much she loves being a mom to Sunday Rose. But the Australia star has fallen so hard for motherhood, she's thinking of putting her career on hold."I'm not saying I'm not that interested in making films anymore," she recently told Telegraph, "I know I'm not meant to say that, but that's where it is for me now. I'm 41 years old and very happy being in Tennessee with my baby and my husband."
Nicole Kidman at Mommy-and-Me? Gymboree? Could be ... but will it stick? Nicole is a highly successful actress; will mommyhood offer her enough of a creative challenge?
When my older daughter was born, I had planned to take 12 weeks off and return to a career I love. When she was eight weeks old, I sat down with my husband and explained that I wanted to become a stay-at-home mom. He was surprised, but no one was as surprised as me. I loved my job, but had suddenly found a new calling.

Meg said...She's been talking about this for years & she has yet to do it. People seem to forget that she's been a mother for 16 years and she certainly didn't slow down her career for those kids. The real question though is she talking about slowing down her career because of Sunday Rose or because her career seems to have hit a major pothole?

Gloria said...Another person to come down on Nicole! She's human just like us all and we all change our minds. Nicole has stated in many different interviews that she is older now then when she had her other children and she seems more at peace too. She seems more laid back now than when she was married to the TC. She's got someone that seems to really care about her and he's given her a home...she didn't say house, but a home and she's happy. However, if she chooses to go back to work, then that's her life, not ours, but I was older when I had my daughter too and I wanted to stay home so bad, but couldn't, but Nicole is financially able to do either, so more power to her. She's even stated that she hoped now that her other children would chose to spend more time with her and Keith now that they are getting older. TC himself even said their kids were stoked at the life Keith and Nicole have together. I think it's wonderful for all of them!

Melissa said...she probably wasn't allowed to stay home with the other two when she was married to the weirdo that is tom cruise! and people change their minds, especially women! i was planning on going back to work after my daughter was born, but when my boss said he didn't need me, i made the decision to stay home for a couple years, and then went back to work about 6 months ago (she was 2). leave the woman alone people, jeez!

Mary said...how I felt about my baby took me by surprise (although I will have to go back to work since I have a stay at home husband)... and I know many successful women who have decided to be a stay at home mom....motherhood certainly gives new meaning to your life.

another baby? said...She said she has other things she wants to do, I don;t remember her saying she is going to retire. She has been talking about producing for a long time now and maybe even directing? She's also been taking about having another baby, she'll probabily do all three!
