Sasha and Malia Dolls Selling for $3,000 on eBay
Filed under: Celeb Kids, In The News, Toys
Ty, the makers of Beanie Babies, introduced the dolls a few days after President Barack Obama was inaugurated for a mere $19.98. Smart shoppers and collectors quickly grabbed them up before Mrs. Obama complained that the names were "inappropriate." Of course there was no connection between the plush Sweet Sasha and Marvelous Malia and the actual First Kids, apologized Ty officials, who quickly renamed them Sweet Sydney and Marvelous Mariah.
"People are crazy for the dolls," one Chicago-based Beanie Baby seller told the Daily News. "It's unbelievable and borders on the irrational. I wouldn't be surprised if I got $5,000 for a set -- it's just that hot."

Hoping to buy your own pair of the originals? You're in luck, if you have the cash. There's a Sasha and Malia doll eBay auction that ends in two days; the current selling price is $207.50. Even with a vague description (only the register receipt says Malia and Sasha, no guarantee on the tags themselves), "the demand for these dolls is just insanity times insanity times insanity," said one anxious buyer.
The foot-tall dolls are part of the TyGirlz Collection. Sweet Sasha is dressed in a pink dress and green leggings with her hair in braids. Marvelous Malia sports a ponytail, green long t-shirt and jeans.

Back to the dols, they don't look caucasian to me, bi-racial, maybe, but not Caucasian.

Former sailor said...It's hard to compare a race to a country/continent of ancestral origin. It would make more sense to try to compare them, say, as "European-American" to "African-American." Besides, what does either ancestral origin or race have to do with anything? I think the dolls are cute. Michelle Obama is not doing any favors for her daughters: imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. She should be pleased that a new generation of girls might grow up trying to emulate her daughters, but she might also try to earn some money for them by asking for royalties, for the girls' future.

Which also means, there is Caucasian in his kids. With that thought in mind, who cares how they look and why on this planet does it matter if they named the silly things after the presidents kids. I think Mrs. Obama should complain about something more relevant (like the loss of so many jobs). They look brown in the photo. Next she will be copy writing their names like Billy Joel.

The results were very strange, and seemed, according to researchers to point to a lack of self-esteem.

To the person that slammed the media for IMPOSING on the Oama Familly, where's your brain. He Put them in the public eye when we ran for President. I think if he doesn't want them in the public eye, keep them inside the White House or send them to his brother, who lives in a hut.
Who are you kidding, he loves the attention, his ego is getting bigger everyday.
AND YES, THE DOLLS are the ugliest dolls I have ever layed my eyes on.
I can't wait until they come out with a boll of MRS.O, I wonder it they will make it like she looks on TV? Every time I see her, she looks like she just rolled out of bed. Her hair standing up all over her head. Someone should tell her, comb you hair when you get up.

My guess would be Obama, he has the money, without the other, he can use part of what he make from the sell of that run of the mill car. He sold in on ebay for $217,300.00. I wached the bidding. He wasn't happy with that price so he relisted it, every bid (148) were declined, so he has to settle for only $271,300.00. Poor thing
