Sasha and Malia Dolls Selling for $3,000 on eBay
Filed under: Celeb Kids, In The News, Toys
Ty, the makers of Beanie Babies, introduced the dolls a few days after President Barack Obama was inaugurated for a mere $19.98. Smart shoppers and collectors quickly grabbed them up before Mrs. Obama complained that the names were "inappropriate." Of course there was no connection between the plush Sweet Sasha and Marvelous Malia and the actual First Kids, apologized Ty officials, who quickly renamed them Sweet Sydney and Marvelous Mariah.
"People are crazy for the dolls," one Chicago-based Beanie Baby seller told the Daily News. "It's unbelievable and borders on the irrational. I wouldn't be surprised if I got $5,000 for a set -- it's just that hot."

Hoping to buy your own pair of the originals? You're in luck, if you have the cash. There's a Sasha and Malia doll eBay auction that ends in two days; the current selling price is $207.50. Even with a vague description (only the register receipt says Malia and Sasha, no guarantee on the tags themselves), "the demand for these dolls is just insanity times insanity times insanity," said one anxious buyer.
The foot-tall dolls are part of the TyGirlz Collection. Sweet Sasha is dressed in a pink dress and green leggings with her hair in braids. Marvelous Malia sports a ponytail, green long t-shirt and jeans.

Carol said...That anyone would spend 3000 on these two dolls because they think they are in some way related to the Obama children shows the mentality of those who are love drunk on Obama. Reality and common sense are not a requirement to be on that team.

Nancy said...I think the whole thing is crazy - for every doll out there they have been given a name that is someones - remember 'chatty cathy'. Did all the cathy's of the world have the clout to have the doll pulled or renamed? Why are these names so special?

nancy said...So the dolls have the same name as obama's kids - SO WHAT
What if every girl named Cathy would have pitched a fit over the Chatty Cathy dolls? Fact is every doll will have the same of SOMEONE so what's the big deal - the obama's need to get over themselves - if they need professional help doing so maybe their buddy oprah can pay for their counseling.

Bob Mc Ewen said...I think the dolls depict what's in the White House very well. They truly do look like little "Pick-a-ninny's" which is what is now occupying the White House.
