Michael Jackson - Protective Celebrity Dad or Just Plain Weird?

Filed under: Celeb Kids, Celeb Parents

Michael JacksonTo say that Michael Jackson is an unusual guy would be an understatement. The Gloved One has been the object of a lot of attention over the past few years and hardly any of it has been positive. But other than that one baby-dangling incident, he has mostly managed to keep his life as a parent to his three kids a mystery.

Like many celebs, Jackson tries to protect his children from the glare of the spotlight. But in true Michael Jackson style, he goes about it in the most bizarre way. Since his first child was born in 1997, Jackson has employed a variety of disguises for his kids to wear when facing the public. We've seen photos of them with their little faces completely covered by blankets, veils and masks. And while some fairly recent photos showing the children without disguises seemed to indicate that Jackson was over the whole "don't look at my kids" thing, this one right here proves he is not.

The photo, taken at a Beverly Hills medical center, shows Michael alongside one of his children, who is wearing what appears to be a surgical cap on his or her face. If he was trying to blend in and not draw attention, he failed miserably.

Little children often like to dress up and wear crazy clothes in public, so I have always thought his kids probably enjoyed wearing those wacky disguises. But his kids are now 7, 11 and 12 years old and I can't help but wonder how this constant elaborate hiding affects them. And what, exactly, is Jacko trying to accomplish by covering them up like this? Is he being protective or just weird?

When you consider the fact that Michael Jackson is a huge celebrity known all around the world, it is striking how little is known about his children. I suppose for the children's sake, that is a good thing. But don't you ever wonder just how they are doing living in Michael's world? Do you worry for them just a little bit?
