Desperate times call for desperate measures and many of us have had to make sacrifices in order to make ends meet these days. But what happens when cutting back doesn't cut it? When you've given up all you can and yet still can't pay the bills? That's exactly the situation Bree, a married mother of two, found herself in when her in-home daycare business began to suffer due to the shrinking economy. She knew she needed to make more money, so she did what many moms are doing these days: She went looking for work outside the home. With bills to pay and mouths to feed, Bree began supplementing her income by working as a waitress in a strip club.
While the leap from babysitter to scantily-clad cocktail waitress is a big one, it wasn't big enough for Bree. After falling behind on her mortgage payment, she realized that the real money was being made by the topless dancers, not the waitstaff. So she put down her tray, took off her clothes, and began earning some extra dollars, one at at time.
Like many women who work in strip clubs, Bree sees the job as a means to an end. She plans to dance just until she can finish school and get a job as a nurse. "Me as a mom I have to stand up and do what I need to do to provide for my family," she says.
According to the manager of the club, Bree isn't unique. Real estate agents, teachers and professional women from all walks of life have been showing up looking to cash in on their good looks and sexy-dancing abilities. Of course, stripping isn't the only option women have for making some extra money, but considering the fact that Bree made nearly $700 on her very first night, it probably is the quickest option.
Most women have probably never even considered dancing topless for money, but I have. Back in the day, I was a young, single mother quite familiar with the desperation that comes from having too many expenses and not enough cash. I also happened to live in a city famous for its gentleman's clubs and was offered a job more than once. I was never tempted. Like Meatloaf said: I will do anything for love, but I won't do that.
I already know that no matter how difficult things are, I could never cast aside my modesty, my dignity and my shirt in order to make some fast money. Could you?

You say both are to blame and i would agree. Poeple are entitled to their opinions whether they agree or not, i was referring to the judgemental attitude of those who do not agree. What do you think their opinions would be if someone judged them ? You say they should have been more financially responsible. What about the people who were financially responsible and still lost their jobs , homes, savings, do you blame them for the financial condition of this country ? A lot of people have fallen on hard times thru no fault of their own. I am an honest person and believe in obeying the laws. if your child was hungry and you didn't have money to feed your child would you steal to do so ? I would.

We are talking about a universal problem in our world...the exploitation of women. Do you want your daughter(s), and her daughter(s), to have to resort to taking their clothes off in front of strange men to make ends meet? If you are ok with that, then you should be sterilized and prohibited from reproducing. We are talking about the welfare of women for generations to come. Let's try and look at the broader picture here.

There are plenty of women who try it out because it is an intriguing profession and are not "desperate" as you would assume. You would be surprised at how empowering it can be. I have stripped in the pass, bought a condo with the money I made and I am now attending an Ivy League school for a graduate degree. That is not to say there aren't desperate women out there who resort to sex industry. Exploitation is about not having a choice. Your judgmental views contribute to stigmatizing women. Who are you to speak for all womankind?

Most Dancer/strippers are their for a positive purpose...like I said in my 6 years as a dancer I met 95% having a goal for a better life or providing for their elderly parents etc...the other have fallen in the bad way of life as a Dancer......
Muddsy, if you are a women...you better check to see if your husband is going to a strip club...or sneaking out...
All men from all walks of life come-into/sneak these clubs...
I even seen a few orthodox Jewish guys come in...with the Black and white on...
whats wrong with seeing beautiful women dance or even men dance?

Who are you to say that someone cannot be respectable because the take off their clothes for money? How about models? (There is a lot of exploitation there as well) How about child beauty pageants? Do 3 year old have a choice? How about actors who are nude for certain roles? Don't be so superficial. While there are many women who could use help in the adult industry, just choosing to be in it does not imply you are one of them. It is a fallacious logical argument.

Mary said...you are such a loser... haha... as you yourself describe, you've probably spent too much time in strip clubs and are resentful that they won't sleep with you. I use to strip and am now getting a graduate degree at an Ivy League college. I'm sure you have all this "insider" information because you are not fascinated by strippers and others in the sex industry. I'm sure there are lots of people like you out there supporting the industry.
