This really is some serious sh--t! Not only was that blood alcohol potentially lethal for that one girl, the lingering effects on all of them are immeasurable. Medically speaking, when you first drink alcohol it begins to set your brains chemistry for its level of tolerance. Even a one-time abuse like this can very well prime each and every one of those girls for a predisposition for alcoholism in the future. They really need to prosecute those parents to the fullest. I have to say to my fellow "boomers;" we sure produced a lot of dumb kids in the 80's who are now parents and grandparents. Now the Gen Xr's are raising an even more stupid generation of Gen Y. How about those teens that took a nap on the railroad tracks to get some sun and the one girl lost a leg to a passing train? Or those six girls killed while driving in a van when the driver girl was text messaging while she drove? It's parents like the ones in this story that raise really stupid kids. You need to ask yourself if you are one of them. (Quick test: do you let your toddler kid scream out loud and run amok in the grocery store or restaurant with no attempt to teach them it isn't correct behavior? If so; you are an idiot and potentially dangerous as a parent.)

....and people wonder why I think Americans are getting losing brain power by the minute. Seems like more and more mothers are partying with their daughters instead of raising them correctly. Wonder why they are all getting pregnant by 14. Probably goes out to pick up guys with her daughters and their friends as well. Good work mom, now your kids are drunken whores.

Duhhhh, most adults can not handling drinking so WTH are these women thinking? We are supposed to be responsible and giving underage kids alcohol and then participating in something like this?? They deserve to spend some time in the clinker. What if one of the girls had died? I do not understand the though process on this, if it is illegal to provide to minors then you DO NOT DO IT.

I know that coming up with ideas for a birthday party when they reach that age is a little hard but why didn't she ask the kid what she wanted to do? I mean who was the adult here?

This incident happened near where I live. Time after time I've heard teenagers saying their parents say they can drink as long as they are at home. I wonder how many other parents do just what this idiot did! Should an example be set? You betcha!!

You are right...I hear parents say that all of the time. And agree that these women should have to pay restitution for their crimes...in other words, yes they should go to jail. However, I think that when we as a society make something taboo, we make it even more desirable. I personally would let my kid at 14 or 15 have a glass of wine, or some beer, but not enough to get drunk and passed out. I'm talking about 4 ounces of wine, or maybe some beer in a glass. Mainly to taste it and see that it is really nothing special, and to monitor their reaction. My parents did that with me, and I have never been a big binge drinker...I may have some wine with dinner, or a good beer once in a while. As for drinking until I am near death, I am not a fan. I contribute that to my parents showing me the responsible way to drink....by their actions when they drank, and by letting me see that there is no big secret there at an early age.I think that doing that in moderation is a good idea, but binge drinking at that age is so bad for their health and their mental stability. I believe that these women and many like them glamorize alcohol and make it more desirable....this is a sad story. I hope those 2 girls are ok.

what we all need is some more government interference in our lives they used to call stupidity population control. now with the government protecting everyone from ourselves their seems to be a lot of overcrowding on the planet. Obviously this lady should have never had any children this was just natures way of correcting it's self. As for the other children their parent's obviously fall into this category also
Kay 4-03-2009 @ 8:36AM
Maybe the Mom did ask the girls what did they want to do!! I think both of the women should be sentenced to prison time...for the maximum time allowed by law. What she did was not only incredibly stupid, but dangerous. Then for them to ask the girls for more money to go get more! I think they are both pieces of garbage who don't deserve to see the free world again. Lock them both up and throw away the keys. As a Mom, I couldn't imagine another adult allowing my children to drink at that age, much less to encourage them. I hope the prosecutors nail them both. I hope the girls who ended up hospitalized are ok and don't have any permanent damage because of these women's insane behavior.

You think this is bad? just wait another 10 years when the young ones now have kids. They pick names for children now ,like they are picking a dogs name. The idea of anything left for wonder is slowly ebbing away. the average 14 year old has already had sex,and many with several partners. we want them to have everything it is what parents do,we even help them pay for the unplanned babies they have. We have given our children so much, we are now taking away their experience of being a child. so they go sraight from babyhood, to adulthood, what happend to childhood?
I am glad I am old and wont be around much longer,to see the total destruction of anything that looks like self respect and morals as they quickly slide down the tube of destruction and it is we the parents who are pushing the cart

Wow, you really have some view on today's youth! Mine happens to be the exact opposite. In sitting down with my 15 year old daughter and her group of friends and discussing the recent election and the issues the nation is facing today, I was very proud and encouraged knowing these bright, enthusiastic young people are our future!
mike hall 4-03-2009 @ 9:04AM
Melissa,
I totaly respect your views and your opinion, of course your head is in the sand as most parents are. I am sure you are best buddies with your daughter and thats a great relationship for any parent. I invite you to visit the aol chatrooms and observe some of the chats in the lobbies, these are not age specific so anyone can come in them. as you will see, the majority of the tweens are hot and sexy at 13,looking for hot ,sexy well hung guys? this comes from the mouths ,should i say hands that type this stuff from 12 to 16 year old females. or better yet stick around long enough to see the 12 and 13 year old bi-sexuals who visit the rooms, looking for the same, check out some of the screen names used by 13 years olds, such as cleanvagina, broken condoms, and all the other filth that is typed there on a minute by minute basis. you dont have to take my word for it,your daughter and her friends are a very small minority of kids who can see past tomorrow. My wife ad I have raised 6 kids of our own and over the past 20 years adopted 20 others that had no chance in life. Our youngest is at John Hopkins on a full scholarship to become a doctor. i wish you th best with your daughter she sounds like she knows where she is headed, sadly most kids dont. They have no chance to be kids as they are slammed into adulthood by COOL parents.

Mike you are so correct with what your saying. Unfortunately, we live in a sickened, depraved society where the monsters are not always under the bed to get you at night. Its the parents themselves who thrust kids into the world of sex, drugs and eventually death!! Alot of divorced, separated and single parents are laying up in the house with bedmates each week. How can they be expected to hand out useful life saving information about how to be morally correct and how to live a full life with esteem and confidence? They cant and the end results today are tragic. Cause not only does the peer pressure take its toll , now we have another form of pressure the young deal with. That comes from the parent itself. No wonder we have a surge in teen suicide . Gloomy statistics as well.
mike hall 4-03-2009 @ 3:41PM
Karen,
I wouldn have expected no less from one who mind surely stays in the gutter. Please read before you write K? I stated that in the LOBBY rooms, Karen LOBBY ,not sex chats is where you see the filth. yes I am a proud grandfather and my grand son ask me to look at what was going on in a LOBBY chat room, open to all ages.So before you decide to attack someone ,Please remember to load your attack with facts,Not stupidity. Maybe I touched a chord with you? Maybe you are one of those 13 year olds that dont want parents to know what goes on in the LOBBY chats which are public chats and suppose to be for everyone. And if you are a parent with a teen on line, then maybe you best visit one of the LOBBY chats, to see what your child is doing? By the way there used to be many tween lobby chats, the ones who used them 12 to 16 years old , talked with such filth and got so many parents angry, that aol decided to do away with them. I am sure you would be one to yell the loudest about losing such a site, maybe that is how you are raising your kids? My mind stays out of the guter 24/7 , please try to kep yours out of the gutter as well when you post here about a really serious problem in our country today.Have a wonderful life and may god bless you and yours.

Yes there are a lot of stupid kids these days, but there are also a lot of smart and responsible kids. I am 20 and graduated high school two years ago. There were parties and kids got drunk - some were out of control and idiotic, and some knew how to control themselves, or not even drink at all. I don't know why people are so dumb. They are trashy. But don't lose hope for our future! There are good kids (and parents) still out there!
mb800 4-06-2009 @ 3:35PM
im kind of surprised at how negative you people are. and wrong. you walk into any middle school, and you're gonna find that maybe 10 or 15 kids there have had sex. I'm pretty sure that's not 'the average 14 year old'. Sure, some kids have problems, but the majority of them are good kids.
JW 4-03-2009 @ 11:50PM
America is going down the tubes. When is a 14 year old's party becoming a booze fest ever an option? Between that and all the Illegal "immigrants" shamelessly checking out the 14 year old kids at Wal-mart the country is seriously in need of some real change. It all happened because you let it.
