Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Here are some suggestions as adapted from ratings and reviews by Common Sense Media. Click on the links to read the reviews in full.

At the Movies
Starring Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past is a modern twist on Dickens' A Christmas Carol. As Connor Mead, McConaughey is your typical bad-boy bachelor who confronts his past relationship sins via the ghost of his dead uncle (Michael Douglas). As you would expect, sexual innuendo and excessive drinking abound and there's a little foul language thrown in for good measure. Rated PG-13, OK for Kids 14+

DVD
hotel for dogsOrphaned siblings Andi and Bruce turn a condemned building into a Hotel for Dogs while longing for a permanent home of their own. The dogs are cute, the hotel is tricked out with cool gadgets and the plot has the predictable happy ending. Other than a little flirting and some action that is more silly than violent, there is nothing but good, clean fun here. Rated PG, OK for Ages 7+

TV
Disney's highly-anticipated JONAS series finally premieres this weekend. After ditching the original brothers-as-secret-agents plot, Disney went with a sure thing: Kevin, Nick and Joe Jonas play Kevin, Nick and Joe Lucas, nice-guy pop stars trying their best to live normal lives. Is it any good? Does it really matter? If the JoBros are in it, their fans will be watching. Rated TV-G, OK for Kids 8+

Books
evermore the immortalsAfter surviving an accident that kills her entire family, Ever Bloom develops psychic powers in Evermore: The Immortals, Book 1. When her powers go silent around a new, mysteriously sexy boy at school, Ever finds herself drawn to him. With sex, violence and bad language sprinkled throughout, it's a haunting tale better suited for older teens. OK for Kids 15+

Music
The Stunners may not be a household name yet, but there is a good chance they will be soon. With a TV series in the works and their new single, Bubblegum, the group is next in line to capture the hearts and minds of tweens. But parents beware: The song's lyrics are bursting with double meanings and the accompanying video is a little on the sexy side. OK for Ages 9+

Web
For the budding author, Tikatok is an easy-to-use interactive site that lets kids create and share their own stories. Using their own artwork or the site's stock images, writers can illustrate their work and, for a fee, have it bound in soft or hardcover for a unique keepsake. A social networking component allows users to create profiles, find friends and even co-author stories with others. OK for Kids 9+

Games
discovery kids puppy playtimeFor the Nintendo DS, Discovery Kids Puppy Playtime is a pet simulator game that not only allows players to take care of their pet, but also to train it as a service animal. With both a story mode and a free-play mode, the game ranges from simple exercises to those that require fast reflexes and advanced skills. Rated E, OK for Kids 6+
