Jon & Kate Divorce Announcement? TLC Wants Us to Think So
Categories: Life & Style, Celeb Parenting
This trailer for Monday's episode of TLC's "Jon & Kate Plus 8" has the Internet buzzing. Are the Gosselins separating? Divorcing? Or -- as many parents are hoping -- quitting reality television to focus on their family?
The trailer -- in which the words "Jon & Kate have an announcement" flash across the screen while Kate says somberly, "Recently we've made some life-changing decisions. Decisions that will affect every member of our family. Ones that we hope will bring each of us some peace" -- certainly encourages viewers to expect the dissolution of the Gosselins' ten-year marriage. The video shows the couple looking miserable, in slow motion, just in case you hadn't already gleaned how unhappy they are from all the media attention lately to, well, how unhappy they are.
So what's the big announcement? We don't know, of course, but we're kind of hoping that they are planning to quit the reality show and get back to their real life. What we're fearing, just a little bit, is a reality TV divorce announcement, complete with sitting the kids down to explain why Daddy won't be living here any more. We really don't want to see that. Either way, TLC is clearly playing on our expectations that the Gosselins are calling it quits, which is just one more sad layer in this whole drama.
What do you think? Are Jon and Kate calling it quits? Are they quitting the show, or their marriage? Or have you completely lost interest in the Gosselins and their family drama?

Don't fall for it! We've heard the "most dramatic rose ceremony ever" reality show ploy before. It's probably something really dumb. My guess is Jon is going to stop working from home. All we really know is that it will impact ever member and bring peace. Trust me - it's going to be something completely anti-climatic. I fall for it every time! Not this time....I'm ready for the let down. Oh yes, I'll still watch....gotta find out what it is! :)

i wish they would announce that they are ending the show so they can focus on their family. Maybe thats what they mean when it says they are all going to have some peace.

I cannot believe how many people watch this nonsense. They obviously need to stop the filming the show and focus on their family instead of all the freebies they are getting.
I tried watching the show once, but got so annoyed by her bad attitude and negativity that I turned the channel. How anyone could put up with that attitude is beyond me.
I hope that the kids don't suffer too much because of their obvious greed and lack of common sense.

Who knows what Jon and Kate are going to do. You can see the hurt and pain on their faces in the new shows when they are in the same room as each other. It might do them some good to have Jon go back to work aside from the show and do something constructive with his life aside from watching the kids all day. I think since Jon had kids at 20 something he didn't have time to go out with the boys, go to concerts to normal 20ish guy things. Then on top of twins at 22 he had six more kids at 25. That would drag any guy down being so young and having 8 kids and a wife that constantly needs to have her way or it's no way.
It might be good for Jon and Kate to seperate for a while and STOP doing the show to save what's left of their marriage.

Please, Please, Please, let the announcement be that they are quiting the show after this season and going to marriage counseling. I do not want to see them break up. It would be so hard on those kids. And I don't see anything really wrong with their relationship. If they could just get some help, maybe Kate could learn to be less of a nag and less violent. And Jon could learn to help Kate out more with the kids. When she was supposedly, "beating" one of the sextuplits, Jon was nowhere to be seen. They need to work some stuff out, OFF CAMERA.

I think they will announce the end of their marriage. There's just too much anger and Jon has totally checked out of not just the marriage, but the family too. He's a dropout, unemployed, hangs around in bars drinking with younger women, drives a 2 seat sports car and is looking at expensive apartments in NYC.
Kate may be bitchy at times but that family would have starved without her. I can't imagine how they could afford to raise 8 kids without the money from TLC. Their father could never support them and the 2 of them together couldn't begin to make enough to pay for daycare for 8.
My sympathies are with the kids and their mother because I don't think Jon wants any part of this family any more. He sure likes the money though.

You should probably watch more of the show before making assumptions there.

I agree with this person comment. How can you expect your viewers to watch something that is not real. Jon says he is there for his kids and yet when watching the Monday night show, he is wearing two diamond ear rings. I would like to see those two go out and try to make a living like normal people do. They could not make it. TLC has spoiled them as far as the money goes. I love their kids and have watched this show since it started and now I do not care if I watch it or not. It should not be called Jon and Kate plus 8. It is no longer a real show. Just two people making money off of TLC. Kate has her ways, but I feel she is who she is and is a good mother. Jon on the other hand I feel he is lazy and does not know what he wants in life. They wanted kids and had a hard time in getting them and now he no longer wants to do his part. I'm not saying he doesn't love his kids, I just feel he wants his freedom more. Nobody is thinking what an impact this is going to how on those beautiful children. I'm confuse as to why they renew their marriage vows, I guess that was just for the money. I do realize that if the show does not go on they will have a hard time making ends meet, unless they already put a lot of money away for their future. Being on TV has not spoiled the Duggar's. They were doing great before TLC came into the picture and they are still doing great even if they are making money. Now, this is a real family. TLC I love your new show the "The Little Couple". TLC why not check out the Masche family, they have sextuplets and are really down to earth family. They live in Arizona and I had watched the show on 06/13 on the WE TV station. They were refreshing to watch. Nothing like Jon and Kate. They both work like real people do and this family lets their kids be kids. I'm not saying Kate doesn't, but she is a little to picky as far as the kids are concern. TLC I feel you are going lose a lot fans on Jon and Kate. I myself do not want to watch a show that is to me not real. I will miss the kids, but I can still be a big fan of the Duggars and other good shows you have.

I don't like these kinds of shows. However, I pray for the sake of
their marriage and their family that the Gosselins call off the
series permanently.
We change when there is a camera in our presence. Something is
obviously very wrong and it isn't any of our concern. Perhaps things would be easier to glue together if there wasn't a film crew in the house all the time.
Have they once considered how the kids feel about this? How it's going to affect them down the road if Mom and Dad really do split? I'm 17- my parents have been divorced for around nine or ten years
now, and I'll never forgive them. The Gosselins need to
do some serious thinking- without TLC being up their behinds.
That being said, best wishes to Jon and Kate. I hope they make
the right decision and put things back in order.

I have watched the show from nearly the start and never would I have thought this kind of media attention would happen.
1 Everyone says Kate is a bad mom.I disagree.Yes, she yells, yes she spanks, but most moms do that. And its hard to keep your cool with eight screaming children.
2 I hope they dont give up their marrige.I know they could work it out.Kate could go on less trips and take a break from tours to figure out why her kids are calling her the babysitters name and Jon should just start hanging out with his guy friends like he used to.

This is way out of control ! TLC should really be ashamed of themselves at this point. The show was fine at first then it turned into something horrible. The show should end now! I don't understand what good can come out of this. Maybe I'm wrong. People do like to watch a train wreck, but this isn't funny. Kids are involved.

I have been married for 42 years and my husband passed away last year of a long illness. We had only 3 children but it still was hard work. When you get married its for better or worse and LOVE. To many couples give up way to soon and really need to talk to eachother. Marriage is till death do you part and that is very hard. Try to work things out you were in love remenber that.

They are divorcing. It's sad their marriage has come to this. I'm a divorced dad, so I know the pain they are enduring. Jon and Kate have no idea what divorced parenting is like. They'll have a ton of single parent, coparenting, and multi-home issues to deal with, not the least of which is how to spend birthdays (8!) and holidays together: http://dadshouseblog.com/2009/05/28/jon-and-kate-divorce-future/

God bless this beautiful family who we love watching since the very begining they started. We have seen the awesome moments and not the best. ... But i must say , nothing is quite different then a normal household with there children , Meaning....this family is an example of us,Those who are caring loving to there wonderful children and parents.... Who wants the very best for There family and of course there children.
I am so sorry for Jon and Kate getting a divorce for what ever situation they are going threw. I must say to those who are always talking negative about this family... I will quote the Bible...
" When they threw the prostitut in front of Jesus after she was with a married man , the people said to Jesus, in your law we have to stone this women... She was caught in the act of sin ...Jesus, writing on the ground got up and said " Who is free of any sin... .throw the first rock... Guess what happen? No one was able to throw the rock, to stone the women who was in sin..... Jesus looked at her and said "Were are those that were here to condem you... They are all gone . ..I don't condem you either... But don't do it again!!!! Meaning we all make terrible mistakes in our lives... But we need to practice this more often.... Forgive and Do not do it again. Jesus didnot make a scandal about this. Why do we need to do this ? If we are thinking about the kids, Let show them respect, value and of course the biggest thing we have... We should all have ... LOVE.... I know Jon, Kate has that wounderful ingredente. I wish them the best with there beautiful family... With all my respect.
