Obama Baby Boom Didn't Deliver

What were you doing on election night?
President Barack Obama probably expected that he'd have to deliver on issues like health care, the economy and foreign relations. But a baby boom, too?
If images of couples embracing and kissing after Obama's historic election are any indication, the president's win put people in a romantic mood. Observers covering the celebrations projected a baby boom would accompany the historic election, based on statistical evidence that people in their child-bearing years tended to vote Democratic, according to MSNBC.com.
Yet here we are nine months later and there's no sign of a baby boom.
Tales of baby booms following one night of revelry, or a blackout or snowstorm, tend to be hyperbole, explained Dr. S. Philip Morgan, a Duke University professor of sociology and demography. "The effect has to push everyone in the same direction," he said.
The split of the popular vote 52-48 in Obama's favor indicates that almost half of the country was not feeling up for a party on the night of his election, which would help squelch a chance at a baby boom. Similarly, for every person who decides to procreate on the night of a snowstorm, another person is stranded alone at an office.
While one-night events usually don't change how many babies are born, MSNBC.com points out that, "a major, sustained event" can effect the birth rate. When World War II ended, soldiers returned home and started families, the story points out, while hurricanes lead to fewer births.
Although a boom hasn't happened yet, some Obama supporters remain hopeful. After all, MSNBC.com reminds us, Obama was born in August 1961, nine months after John F. Kennedy was elected.

Obama Visits Troops in Hawaii
Troops in Hawaii get a Christmas visit from U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle. The president and first lady were at this Marine Corps base on Christmas Day to thank hundreds of sailors and marines for their service. They also met some new additions to the soldiers' families, and at least one baby wasn't afraid to reach out. In Hawaii on vacation, the first family also attended a Christmas service at the base chapel. They are expected to return to Washington on January 2nd.

Many factors influence the length of pregnancy, including: mother's age, weight, ethnicity, prenatal care, etc. Nägele’s Rule was developed in the 1850’s and states that the average human pregnancy was 266 days from conception, or 280 days (40 weeks) from the start of the last menstrual period. This “rule” doesn’t take into account the fact that many women are uncertain of the date of their last menstrual period, not all women have 28 day cycles, and not all women ovulate on day 14 of their cycle. So what difference does all of this make? Not a bit.

Glenn Koons said...Well my family and I were praying that we would not have an ACORN type Alinsky type community organizer in the WH with BHO's election but we got a socialist pacifist instead. Now, 9 months later, our prayers are that we can survive his economic inexperience and that our kids, grandkids can survive his naivete in foreign policy with the love for Islamofascists. Perhaps our prayers will be answered in 2010 with the defeat of his Congressional socialists.

We're' to busy paying for illegal immigrant baby boom, having babies to become American citizens so they can live here for nothing. or least have babies that don't cost anything. Obama is a product of a gypsy mom living off the people educating Obama off the people so why not have a baby boom look how well Obama made out now he lives off the tax payers guess he learned well from his mother.Also a baby boom would create more tax payers in the future to pay off the debt Obamas running up.

Obama is his own lobbist (now), making "behind closed doors" deals with pharmetuetical companies AND he will challenge, if not, itimidate, subjugatehis radical and immoral ideas. Even the Democratic Chairman of Healthcare Reform, says this is not what THEY legistrated for. I feel sad for those that did not see this coming, as Obama is showing his true color, to his own constituents and party lines. A one man show?...(in my eyes, An Anti-christ; just like his die hard, pagan followers). He is as crafty, foolish, deceitful, and sinful as any snake ever lived. There are millions of Americans praying for the Lord to have Mercy on us for choseing this Fool to "solve our problems" when in fact he has been nothing more than a lying, self centered, control freak, with an agenda to hide his Anti-Christian and Anti-American testament. He advocates death of the unborn and (now, the cat is out of HIS OBAMANATION BAG...that he plans to "change" for the " culture of our elderly. This isn't based on the absense of Obama not having a Mom or Grandparents that would exempt his stake in caring or not caring for the elderly. It has to do with the spirit of death he carries in his heart. GOD SAVE US ALL. AMEN.
