8-Year-Old Daredevil Wing-Walker Attempts World Record

Tiger was very familiar with the stunt, since his grandfather, Vic Norman, owns a wing-walking team called SuperAeroBatics. Tiger did his walk -- 1,000 feet in the air, moving at 100 miles per hour -- on Grandpa's plane, according to the Daily Telegraph.
You know what they say: The family that defies death together, stays together.
Tiger is hoping to be the new record holder in the sport, as the youngest wing walker ever. He apparently knocked off the previous record holder, Guy Mason, son of Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason. Guy did his wing walk in 2001, at the tender age of 11. Guinness World Records will make the final, official determination on whether or not Tiger's bid to make history is a new record
Watch hair-raising video of Tiger doing the daring deed:
Some are saying that Tiger did not, in fact, break the record at all, because he didn't actually walk on the wing of a plane. Wikipedia defines wing walking as "the act of moving on the wings of an airplane during flight." As a YouTube commenter points out, Tiger "was harnessed into a special frame with his feet barely reaching the wing. He was in what was effectively a seat, except in the standing position."
That's still pretty daring for an 8-year-old, or a 48-year-old for that matter.

Interesting side note: Tiger has two sisters named Star and Flame. His father was born Colin, but changed his name to Happy Birthday. Sounds like a fun family.
Take a look at the video and tell us what you think.

UNLIKE SOME WHOM MIGHT LOCK THEIR CHILD IN A ROOM FOR THE PARENTS BENEFIT OR LET THEM PLAY GAMES ALL DAY WHILE ON THEIR REAR END STUFFING THEIR FACE WITH FOOD !!!!

D said...The story does say that the boy was familiar with the wing walkers because of his grandfathers team. Maybe, his father had tried it, too, at some point before. I wouldn't have let my child do it but, that's the great thing about being a parent...we get to make the choices for our children...not other parents. I see parents allow their children to do unsafe things every day. If this young man had gotten hurt, his parents would have had to live with that forever. Just the same, if a child died in a car accident because they had no seat belt on, their parent would have to live with that, too. I can't say that given the right circumstances and experiences that I might not let my child try something that others would deem dangerous. I don't think that this young man should be considered for entrance into the Guinness Book of World Records because he really didn't wing walk. I agree with others who commented that he was definitely well secured and unable to walk. However, it looks like it was an awesome experience and one I'd love to have the opportunity to try.

First off who is to say that his parents have never wing walked....they could be on the grandpas freakin wing walking team but the article is simply only about the boy! Second i dont think the parents MADE the boy strap up there, it was his choice and dream. Im pretty sure teh parents and grandpa had though of all the dangerous factors in this stunt and probally figured out what to do if something were to go wrong, im pretty sure they wouldnt just strap him up there and say lets go! They are trained and know what they are doing, so with grandpa by side im sure the boy was fine!
