Love Me Do
Joshua Duggar is one of 18 children. Anna Duggar, formerly Keller, is one of 8. The two married in September 2008 and they're leaving the number of children they have "up to God."

Anna told People magazine that "I would love to have as many children as God would bless us with. Growing up in a large family, and Joshua in a mega-family, you learn so much more. I think a large family helps you prepare for life."

"It's definitely quieter than being in a house with so many kids," said Joshua. "When I go to the grocery store, it feels strange only having one shopping cart."

Josh Duggar, 20, the eldest sibling, married Florida native Anna Keller in September 2008. The two met at a home-schoolers' conference in 2006, said People.com. Josh Duggar said it was love at first sight and he spent the next two years courting Keller. "Dating means you're shopping around," he told the paper. "A courtship is the path toward marriage."

The Duggars in Times Square in May 2008. Ain't it a miracle how the family gets through the streets of New York City without losing anyone. The reactions from people who encountered the Duggars on the street? As shown on their TLC series, most say the same thing: "17 kids? Wow."

All the kids, 17 shown here in 2008, play piano and violin and the girls play harp. According to the Duggar's site, "At 9:00AM, the older children help their buddies with their studies in phonics, math, violin & piano (J-O-Y- Jesus first, Others second, & Yourself last!). Then the older children start their music & individual studies - math, English, spelling & typing."

Surrounded by their 18 children, including their eldest Josh and his pregnant wife, Anna, the famously fertile couple told the "Today" show's Meredith Vieira that they are thrilled to add yet another child to their brood.
"We are thrilled to announce that we found out we're expecting our 19th child," Michelle Duggar said.
As well as expecting their own baby, the Duggars are eagerly anticipating the arrival of their very first grandchild, a girl, this fall. Josh and Anna Duggar added to the excitement when they revealed that their baby's name would begin with an "M."
It seems that 18 is a lucky number for the Duggars -- following on the birth of 18th child Jordyn-Grace, the couple is expecting this newest arrival on March 18. Jim Bob celebrates his birthday on July 18, and their grandchild is due to make her debut on Oct. 18.
Of her pregnancy, veteran mom Michelle, 42, says that she's feeling the typical first-trimester nausea, but is generally doing well.
"I'm feeling sick and tired, which is a good way to be feeling about right now," she told Vieria. "I always tell myself that's a good way to be, because that means good things are happening."
The pregnancy took Michelle by surprise a bit: The average gap between the Duggar children is 18 months. Just eight months after Jordyn's birth, Michelle noticed that she was putting on weight and that the baby fussed when she nursed. Those two signs alerted her that she might be expecting yet again.
Michelle has been pregnant for 147 months of her life, and she still has five more to go. For those playing along at home, that's more than 12 years of pregnancy.
The couple had their eighteenth child in December 2008. The other children range in age from 18 months to 20 years, plus one daughter-in-law.

paymyownway said...I agree.......................This "family" is sick. Look at her, 42 years old, hagged out. Clearly she and her husband believe that they are doing the world a favor.
TAXES: Home schooling or not, the Duggar's receive how MANY tax writeoff's each year which they apply to state and federal? HOW MUCH DO THEY PAY? The county does not tax them on their property.
These people are tax cheats! The children are raising the children while the adults hang out in the sack producing like common animals.

They produce truly educated, respectful, productive children. I'll challenge you to find that in our wonderful public school ( TRUE CULT), society. Maybe you feel a little convection.

When she dies in a few years because her body gives out from having so many babies maybe the kids will learn. How sad is it that this woman thinks she is nothing better than a baby breeder? Those kids do everything in that house, they became parents of their siblings the moment they were born. What a shame that not a single person in that family will ever learn that they can think for themselves. I pity them, very much.

It is their life and should be able to do as they wish. We live in America where they have the choice to have a large family. Leave them alone.

Do you honestly believe that these kids are better off because they are home schooled? Give me a break. Those kids are dumb in every sense with the exception of what they are taught by their mother (who apparently knows very little). Put into an environment where they had to deal with real issues in the world they would all collapse and fold. Those kids deserve to be pitied and the parents deserve to be jailed. All the parents are doing is breeding their own little congregation all of whom will serve little purpose for America other than breeding more socially challenged children. What a shame that you would envy them.

Freaks said...That family is FREAKISH. Those kids will never be normal. They dress them like the Amish, shelter them from the 'real world' and only let the TV cameras in to make money so they don't have to work a REAL job to support that CULT they call a family.

If these people want to have 50 kids, and they raise them and pay for thier upbringing, who are you on this board to judge or degrade them? What happened to "tolerance"? Or does that only apply when someone agrees with your way of thinking?

Is Michelle happy being a baby robot...wearing down-trodden clothing and does she really think that little of herself to keep battering her body?

Crystal said...Oh come on..she has had 18 and not a complication. And those are the happiest most well behaved children I have ever seen. Not to mention they aren't so wrapped up in tv or video games that they can't function without them, like the average kid today.
Its not hurting you, how many kids she is having.

Summer said...Hi Sue: I think you're thinking of the Arndt family. They were featured on Kids by the Dozen. They have 13 boys & one daughter (poor thing!) and they play on a family baseball team. One of their older sons, Mark, has alopecia (loss of body hair). Here's their family website: http://www.famteam.com. They are a very sweet family.

Now I don't know exactly that she'll die from childbirth (that's kind of a sad way to look @ it), although w/her being in her 40s, age itself is obviously a greater risk. Moreover, there's a greater chance for genetic abnormalities. Anyway, moving on from the science factor, clearly Michelle & Jim Bob aren't tired of having children & can't control themselves, but dear God, draw the line somewhere! They pretty much JUST had Jordyn, so now they'll have 2 babies that need constant looking after.

So I have to disagree That homeschooled kids are dumb. My brother is graduating with a bachelors degree in computer technology he never paid a dime ! He made a 29 on the act and has always had scholarships and a free ride all the way! Not to mention the kids look happy , healthy , and loved. Which is more than I can say about most kids which is terrible! So Please Study Up On What Your Commenting on before you actually do .

mcc1770 said...Would I ever do something like this... NOT ON YOUR LIFE! But, to each his own! I do know one thing, this world would be in alot better shape if more parents would control or teach their kids to be one half as good as these kids are. I commend the Duggars for the way they raise these kids, very polite and manners! I grant you one thing, you won't find these kids in jail for stealing, dealing drugs, rape or murder. Families in the old days use to have 10 or more kids and it was normal. I do not agree with having kids once grandkids come along. Then it is time to stop! I think they are doing an awesome job with their family but it is time to stop!

TONI said...These people are monsters and the most incredibly selfish people I've ever heard of. Those poor children that never get the necessary attention from their parents and end up raising the younger children whether they like it or not. They should get to vote on whether another child is born. My dog had to be spayed after 2 C-sections because her uterus was so thin, why can't this lady be spayed. And if they are the good Christians they claim to be, why not adopt instead of wasting our resources on more children.
This makes me SO angry!

Mark said...WHY.....WHY.....WHY? What's the point in having THAT many children? Are they trying for a world record? If you happen to see Mrs. Duggar and notice something dragging the ground behind her, don't worry, it's just her uterus!
