Little Girl Who Tossed Baseball Talks

Email ThisEmily Monforto, the 3-year-old who tossed back her dad's foul-ball catch at the Phillies game on Tuesday, got a chance to tell her side of the story. While her take on what happened is a bit different than what the video showed -- she claims the ball dropped, we saw a deliberate throw -- she's still as cute as could be.
Apparently, the front-office staff of the Philadelphia Phillies agreed. They gave her a new ball, which she's not letting go of anytime soon, said Vince Lattanzio, editor at NBCPhiladelphia.com, whose station nabbed this exclusive interview with the little lass. Emily's dad, Steve Monforto had never caught a foul ball before, Vince told us. What Steve did capture however, are the hearts of parents nationwide, when he hugged his baby girl after her spontaneous throw.
We hear that this was Emily's sixth Phillies game, but we suspect that this little incident will make long-term fans out of the now famous Laurel Springs, NJ family.
Emily demonstrated that same overhand throwing motion that she displayed at Tuesday's Phillies game. Could an MLB contact be far behind?

What an adorable little girl. Not hard to see that she is a very happy child and her parents spend a lot of time with her. That's so heartworming to see these days. Hats off to her dad (and mom or whomever else)!!!

Everyday there can be a "price tag" on any "foul-ball". You can never put a price tag on this!!!!! - Men stand up take a good look, this is a "Daddy" a "Daughter" a "Family" let this be your "roll model" you'll never be able to put a "price tage" on this.

Hey Di,
Don't you mean heartw-a-rming. Heartworms afflict cute little dogs, not precious little girls like Emily. lol Kudos to her loving daddy!

I have to agree. This was what we used to call a "Kodak Moment." I loved the smile on his face and how gentle he was with his little girl. He definately puts her feelings first above anythng. She will grow up with a great self worth for herself.

Give me a break! I suppose he planned this with Werth. It was a great catch and a better throw and hug.

Oh Shut up. He is a sweet Dad and it is nice to see a sweet Dad and a nice story. If he gets famous over this and it bothers you so much ignore it. Let those of us who enjoy it see it.

"For doing nothing"? There are a boat load of fathers that would have at least chewed out there child for having thrown away "his" once-in-a-lifetime prize! This father not only found great joy in taking his daughter to the ball game (rather than going with "the guys" and getting half-tanked up on the local brew) he immediately scooped her in his arms and gave her a hug and kiss when she threw away that souvenir! What a father! I hope that all those "I'm de man!" fathers take a good look and learn a lesson on parenting from this marvelous father! God bless him and his family!

I think that the big picture here is that the whole country is oooooooo-aaaaaaaaaaaaa over a dad being nice to his little girl.
We just do not see it that much any more. 1 out 5 kids dont even know thier dads. This country needs to get on its knees and talk with God and stop worrying about how much money to give some guy that huged his little girl. I hug my little girl every day for free. WAKE UP AMERICA
