We all know that patience is a virtue; we also know that it's a virtue young children don't always have in large amounts. Or at all. Especially when there's candy involved. So when these kids are left alone in a room with a gigantic marshmallow and a promise that if they do not eat it, they can have another, what happens? Watch the video and see.

longings said...In experiments, the amount of time the children could delay gratification was directly related to age. The older the child, the longer the ability to wait (in general). Cruel? Give me a break.

Love Is said...Every now and then I read some of the comments posted, and each and every time I can count on reading something racist. How can you call yourself a child of God, yet have so much hatred for one of his children? I know the racist would choose to believe that races other than their own are not children of God. That's only to justify their racist mentality. Even so, God does not approve of hatred, disrespect, or even murder. Racism is not a Godly attribute. Come on people, the devil is leading you straight to hell. Racist have to be the most miserable people on the earth. To carry around that much hatred cannot be healthy. Definitely not good for the heart:o)

jojo said...I don't think this was cruel, because none of the children appeared to be malnurished or hungry. It was cute and this study was done years ago and when they followed up with the then kids now adults almost all those who waited went on to college, had better jobs than the kids who didn't wait. Patience teaches lessons.

kblairtrav said...How could anyone think this was cruel? Kids should never get everything they want when they want it. This was a good lesson and an important one. In the meantime, I think Welch's grape juice found a couple of their next spokes kids.
