In Theaters Now: Fame
While this remake of the 1980 hit has a positive message and a diverse cast, the new "Fame" is rougher around the edges than seems necessary. When not pursuing their dreams of stardom, the fictional students of New York City's prestigious High School for the Performing Arts are having sex, swearing like sailors and drinking alcohol. Despite the rating, this show is ill-suited for younger viewers. Rated PG, Iffy for Kids 11-13

Wizard of OzDVD: The Wizard of Oz
Digitally remastered and packed with bonus features, the 70th anniversary DVD release of "The Wizard of Oz" is a must-see for fans of the classic film. With an enduring message about friendship and faith, the 1939 film has stood the test of time and is as entertaining and engaging as any modern kid's movie. Not Rated, OK for Kids 6+

TV: The National Parks: America's Best Idea
The unsung heroes of America the Beautiful get their due in Ken Burns' "The National Parks: America's Best Idea." Entertaining and informative, this 12-hour documentary examines our country's natural treasures and the visionaries who helped preserve and protect them for future generations. Rated TV-G, OK for Kids 7+

Books: The Yellow Tutu
A celebration of individuality and friendship, "The Yellow Tutu" features Margo, a young girl who confidently marches to her own beat. When she is teased at school for a fashion faux pas, her positive attitude and sense of self will see her through. OK for Kids 4+

Live Like We're DyingMusic: Live Like We're Dying
"American Idol" winner Kris Allen lives up to his wholesome image with his debut single, "Live Like We're Dying." Allen's squeaky-clean reputation is reinforced with a positive message about love and his sound is surprisingly appealing. Here's an idol appropriate for even the youngest music fans. OK for Kids 8+

Web: National Geographic Little Kids
A companion site to the print magazine, "National Geographic Little Kids" is a safe and fun place for preschoolers to begin exploring the world around them. Easy to navigate with audio instructions, the site features recipes, crafts and cute videos of baby animals. OK for Kids 4+

Toy Story ManiaGames: Toy Story Mania
Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang have created their own carnival in "Toy Story Mania" for Nintendo Wii. With a variety of midway-style mini-games, players compete alone or against each other to earn tickets that unlock even more mini-games. Easy to play and fairly competitive, kids will enjoy the camaraderie and encouragement from the Toy Story characters. Rated E, OK for Kids 6+
