Boy, 5, Kills 800-Pound Alligator

Lisa, you would rather have seen this boy eaten than the gator? Or your own child? "If it ever ate my child- so be it." You are one sick individual! You should be ashamed of yourself for even thinking something like that let alone posting it on a public forum.

Would taking a dive into a state park or county park to cool off after a bicycle ride and then having an alligator rip your arm off for lunch deter you from swimming in one of these parks, some of which are open to public swimming? Happened. Alligators are known to travel many miles to find water during a drought. They are not picky about where this water is. Could be in your back yard. True, this alligator was in a swampy area but this should not have protected it. There is no lack of alligators. If killing animals makes you sick, then I guess you don't go to the grocery stores. Legal hunting is still a way of life in the United States and that is the way it should be. It keeps things in check.

How about the Corps of Engineers releasing all the water from the lake, mudding the water in the river below, and getting a massive fish kill. The people at the main office 250 miles away did this. They don't live here, and do not know the area. The fishing will never be the same. For generations the catfish will be small. There will be no more record breaking fish. The reason, they are all dead. This is not to enclude the endangered clams. Lost habatat that kept the fish spauning. You are talking about one alligator people. Down here they are getting to be a real danger. They see you as food people. Not just another animal, As food. Your kids swimming in the lake is food. Wading in the pond or creek, again food. There is a saying down here,"If you see one count it as 10." That means that if you see one there are probably 9 more close.THINK!!!!

A gator that old should have just been caught and allowed to live on with it's life they knew it was there so why kill it and glorify a kid and give him and his parents the big head.

You discust me. "So be it" if an animal were to kill your own child??? In what fruit loop, tree hugging, granola, zen buddist family did you grow up in? The life of a gator is in no way equal to that of a child. And to say that about your own son makes it clear that you shouldn't have children if you value them so little. Your only other option would be to shelter the little tit fed bastard all his life so he can't function on his own and fears his own shadow. We should just ship you and your kind off to a island inhabited with all manner of animals and let you fend for yourself. If you get killed, hey, so be it.

Way to go kid! Out west we have the same problem with cougars and black bear. They are protected to the degree that you can't hunt them properly. Then, every time one of the city dwelling idiots that made the rule of how to hunt them gets attacked by a cougar or a bear gets into their garbage/house, they cry about it. Dangerous predators, whether they be two legged or four need to be properly controlled. I say to the cougars and bears out here, "eat all those city dwelling freaks who wanted to 'protect' you."

Of course we're pussies and liberals if we find it appalling that a five year old boy kills an alligator. Of course, we don't know anything about wildlife unless we carry a gun. Of course, it saves children. Same old tired arguments from the Elmer Fudd types. So predictable. What's "embarrassing" for the alligator when he receives "buckshot right between his eyes"? If they could, idiots like this (and their fathers) would kill every last living, breathing wildlife on the planet. Which believe me, isn't much after we've got through having fun with our guns. That kid did a great job, & if his parents just let him shoot the gator so they did not get in trouble for killing it, GOOD, if you had a gator of any size stalking your back yard, you would too,...or maybe you wouldn't. Maybe you would feed your kids to the gator & ACT like IT WAS AN ACCIDENT.
