Miley, Miley, Miley.
What to us is life without thee? Darkness and despair alone.
This was a common lamentation on old tombstones, but this isn't about death. This is serious. Teen sensation Miley Cyrus canceled her Twitter account this month, leaving a void for millions of young fans that can never ...
What's that? "Twilight" has its own Twitter account now?
According to the Examiner.com Web site, fans of the movie series about angst-ridden teen vampires can learn about actress Kristen Stewart making the cover of Allure magazine and get exclusive pictures (or "pics") of Stewart and fellow actor Taylor Lautner in character as Bella and Jacob.
The thing is the director of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," Chris Weitz, is 39 years old. So he's, like, ancient. This Twitter stuff is new to him. "This is my first-ever tweet, so be gentle with me," he told the account's 61,000 (and growing) followers.
Other celebrities are also jumping in to fill the Miley-shaped hole left in America's heart.
Pop singer Rihanna has started a Twitter account and is hyping her new album, due to be released Nov. 23. "The wait is ova," she tweeted fans who are too impatient for the word "over" to be spelled completely and properly.
When Miley canceled her Twitter account with its two million followers, she said she wanted to have a private life rather than just tweet about one. She released a rap video on YouTube to elaborate for her fans. "I stopped living for moments and started living for people," she rapped.
Many of her fans were devastated. "You are a light in a world of darkness," one of the wrote in a gushing tweet. "You were born Destiny Hope Cyrus for a reason. You can't leave everyone now. We r counting on u."
Uh, actually, that tweet didn't come from a pre-teen fan. It came from her father, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. The New York Daily News reported the elder Cyrus, still on Twitter, is among Miley's disappointed fans.
Not too worry, however. Britney Spears remains on Twitter with such tweets as: "I love Japan! I think all the tiny cars are so cute!"
And the beat goes on.
