Fashion Alert: Burberry Clothes Kids
Check this out: Burberry, the luxury line known for its check pattern and beautifully tailored clothing, is going after the children's fashion market. And, guess what? Parents are buying.
With young fan fave Emma Watson -- a.k.a. Hermione Granger of "Harry Potter" film fame -- starring as the new face of the brand, along with a goal to nearly triple its children's business, a post on London's The Times says, the British brand's goal is for kid's fashions to make up 10 percent of business in four years.
So, what are parents willing to shell out to dress their kiddies in Burberry? At Neimanmarcus.com: $290-$365 for a toggle coat, $60-$150 for a check kilt, $75 for check cuffed jeans, $215 for a trench dress, $60 for check booties, $45 for check pink socks.
With revenue rising, strong sales and celeb tots such as Suri Cruise, Kingston and Zuma Rossdale, Lourdes Leon and Kiyan Anthony sporting check styles, Burberry babies could become the next hot thing.
And if Hermione likes it, that could translate into magical sales numbers.
