New York City has also proclaimed today, Nov. 10, "Sesame Street Day." The show's set design was actually based on several blocks on the Upper West Side, Harlem and the Bronx, but it was intended to bring educational skills to inner city kids across the United States.

First Lady Michelle Obama will appear on the season premiere today and discuss eating fruits and vegetables. The 40th anniversary show will kick off a two-season focus on the environment called "My World is Green and Growing."
