Suri Cruise Stumbles in Her High Heels

Oh, baby! Those sparkly, high-heel sandals that pint-size Suri Cruise has been sporting recently look so adorable. Especially when combined with ponytails and Elmo.
But walking the walk ain't so easy, as the famous preschooler discovered. Credit: PPNY / GSNY / Splash News
But on a recent Boston outing with her mom, Katie Holmes, Suri, 3, apparently slipped while walking on a wet sidewalk. Mom, wearing flat boots, was there to keep her from falling.
And, so, the debate continues: Is it appropriate for toddlers to wear heels?

CeCe said...You are so right. Let them play dress up at home once in awhile, but little ones deserve a chance to be children. They are grownups all to soon. Talk to a doctor about what high heels do to your feet, legs, and back, then decide whether you should buy them for little feet.

Chai said...Yeah, no kidding it's not appropriate. What kind of complete moron would ever, EVER, let a toddler out of the house in heels? It's been proven that heels are bad for people's backs and knees and God only knows what else. It's bad for grown-ups, what makes them think it's right for a kid? They're screwing up their kid's physical development and gearing her for having medical issues when she gets older.
I can't believe they'd be so irresponsible. Whoever said that this is child abuse in their comment is right.

Merrily said...Playing dress up is code for a kid getting mom's shoes on and clomping all over the house. The shoes Suri is wearing actually fit her and she is trying to walk on cobblestones, which is hard for an adult to do in heels.
Shame on her parents. She could have broken an ankle.

It's dangerous enough wearing the shoes in the house but out in public?! That concrete is not prejudice! It hurts anyone!!

KATHY said...I agree. Of course it is absolutely fine to play dress up in the house and when they are PLAYING but I have thought for years what is the point of putting shoes with heels on a little one that is just learning to walk and run and not paying attention to what they are walking on etc. Even when my 8 year old wants to wear her dressier shoes with a little heel out to school or to play the answer is no......when you are running around and playing on the playground etc...your gonna be falling all over the place.
Playing dress up should be done for exactly that...playing dress up...not day to day wear.

It looks like they are dressed for what appears to be a wet chilly day. And yet Suri is in sandles with bare feet , she is wearing a warm coat, which just makes the whole thing rediculous. Someone needs to be the parent here. You know, like providing the necessities of life. Maybe some sparkly boots, I'm sure they can afford them.

Olivia said...You all are acting like she is prancing around in 3 in heels. All little girls love to get dressed up and she probably picked them out herself! She could have just as easily tripped with flat sandals on. You need to rethink the definition of child abuse. On top of it her mother was right there to catch her, get a life people.

What the hell is going through Katie's mind? I can't even understand why she's out in the rain, no less, in those little heels while her mother wears flat, sturdy boots. It's insane. Why not get her colored contacts so her eyes match her outfits? Katie, you were so normal, what the hell (besides the obvious) happened to you?!?!
