Suri Cruise Stumbles in Her High Heels

Oh, baby! Those sparkly, high-heel sandals that pint-size Suri Cruise has been sporting recently look so adorable. Especially when combined with ponytails and Elmo.
But walking the walk ain't so easy, as the famous preschooler discovered. Credit: PPNY / GSNY / Splash News
But on a recent Boston outing with her mom, Katie Holmes, Suri, 3, apparently slipped while walking on a wet sidewalk. Mom, wearing flat boots, was there to keep her from falling.
And, so, the debate continues: Is it appropriate for toddlers to wear heels?

Carolyn said...All little girls, and some little boys, do get dressed up...but
only an ignorant, lenient mom would let one of them
prance around out of doors when it is pouring rain.
She could have experienced a very painful fall.
By the way, is she still using the bottle as in the last
pictures we saw of her......!!

jodie said...i have a son, and when he was younger he INSISTED on wearing his spiderman costume everywhere for months after halloween. kids do that, it's normal and common for them to want to choose their own attire. so when a little girl wants wants to wear her dress up clothes out in public, where is the harm really? she is walking down the street with her mom and dad, not out on the jungle gym playing, so the "it's unsafe to be out playing in heels" arguement is moot. i am sure if society put this much effort in protecting the children that are actually in danger from their parents and other adults, maybe just maybe we wouldn't be finding little girls and boys dead in a field so often. let's put things in perspective before we start ranting about a 3 year old who i am sure said "mommy, i wanna wear my dress shoes today when we go". yes, parents are supposed to be the final decision makers and look out for their kids best interest....but you can't prevent your kid from taking every stumble they are gonna take in life. it's called learning.

While chatting with her, I noticed her shoes were on the wrong feet, and as I bent forward to fill her in on it, I noticed a sticker on her shirt that read: "I dressed myself today!" enough said. :)

Marilyn said...Good grief, NO it's not appropriate! Her mother wore sensible boots, appropriate for the weather. She allowed her little girl to wear flimsy open toed high heels! Idiot. Once, it's kind of cute. Continuously, as regualr footwear. Don't be stupid! Someone buy the kid a pair of sneakers before she breaks an ankle.

Lori said...No. I am a Pediatric Nurse and this is not good for the development of the babies feet. Plus it is raining, and slippery in this pic. Not smart.

rena padilla said...if the mom isnt wearing high heels on the slippery sidewalk then why the hell should the 3 year old. ok fashion is great but not when it comes to where your three year old breaks something. she has her whole life to play with fashion and wear high heels, but now she should be wearing sensable shoes.

Martha said...Suri is way to young to be wearing heals... young children should wear age appropriate shoes that support their young feet. Heals on a youngster is a disaster waiting to happen.

Lakes said...Maybe its what the child wants. But I think its also as I was saying about influentual parents, their grooming her to be a star. And she does have all the qualities to be one. Would be the same if a kids parents are a doctor , lawyer or football star. Its their hopes of a mini me. There is no doubt that Cher must be so disapointed in Chasity for not following her her famous and rewarding footsteps.

HopeLivzOn said...It is up to the parents to decide what is appropriate, healthy and proper for a child - not a three year old. Just because it's what the child wants, does not make it okay. Playing dress up, in plastic high heels, or those from Mama's closet, at home, for a little while playing will not hurt a child. Allowing a three year old toddler to wear kitten heels on a regular basis is being a negligent parent and CPS should step in. Katie is setting Suri up for a future of back, leg and foot problems. Not to mention she was in open toes on a rainy day. What was her mother thinking???

Mindy said...Ridiculous. Not safe, a detriment to her foot and leg development, and besides, high heels serve one purpose only, and that is to boost the "sex appeal" of the female frame. We all know that. I'm not saying that's even a bad thing - for an adult. But a 3 yr. old?? Give me a break.
