Product Recall: Infant Car Seat/Carriers
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Consumer Product Safety Commission and Dorel Juvenile Group have issued a recall of infant child restraints and carriers.
Dorel, which manufactures products under the brand names Safety 1st, Cosco, Eddie Bauer and Disney, is recalling about 447,000 units. The bolts that attach the seat to the handle can loosen and cause the handle to become detached from the seat, creating a possible fall hazard.
There have been 77 reports of the handle coming off, fully or partially, resulting in at least three injuries to infants.
For a free repair kit, contact the company at 866-762-3316 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. or visit their website at www.djgusa.com. Consumers should not use the handle of the carrier until the repair kit has been installed but continued use as a car seat is okay.
