Somebody needs to have a talk with young Miley.
Let's review the facts. Miley Cyrus was born in 1992. Her first TV appearance was in 2001 on "Doc," a show that starred her father, Billy Ray Cyrus. That means she was 9 years old. She has since achieved massive success as the star of "Hannah Montana" on the Disney Channel, recorded a number of chart-topping songs and starred in movies. All of this activity, which started in her youth, has earned her almost a billion dollars.
A career that started at age 9 means her parents had something to do with it. So how exactly can she criticize anyone for doing something similar?Miley also has a younger sister, Noah Cyrus. Earlier this year, Noah, who is 9, was photographed wearing an extremely sexualized Halloween getup. She and her friend Emily Grace have their own YouTube show called "The Noie & Ems Show."
Take a look at it here.
Um, Miley? That's a camera. And your little sister is in front of it on a regular basis. So it's OK for you and your kin, but not Angelina Jolie and Madonna? For what it's worth, Lourdes, Maddox and the rest of the Jolie/Ciccone children typically appear in paparazzi photos, not their own YouTube productions.
IrishCentral.com also says that Miley spoke about her heart problem, tachycardia, a condition in which the heart beats faster than normal. According to the article, she has had tachycardia from the time she was born, and because of her condition she needs to avoid stress as much as possible.
So let's see. Miley Cyrus has had a serious heart condition since birth. She should try not to get stressed. As a young child, her parents put her on television. A very relaxing profession. (I mean, child stars never grow up and have serious problems, right?) Then they did the same thing with her sister. But Angelina Jolie and Madonna have done something wrong because people take photos of their kids.
Pot. Kettle. Miley.

On the face of it you're right. Except, Madonna, and Angelina were never child stars. Noah is still a child. Miley Cyrus was a child planted firmly into the spot light, and is now old enough to comprehend her parents choices.
Sorry to say this Brett, but Miley Cyrus is the ONLY person in this story in a position to comment.

I agree with Mark. Being in the spotlight at such a young age and seeing her sibling in front of the camera as well as her co-stars, etc., I think, gives Miley the unique perspective of knowing the good and bad effects of public exposure of children. Who better to comment than one who has been there and done that?

Miley shouldn't be throwing stones at anyone.

Sorry, but this brat Miley has absolutely no room to talk. She isn't a parent, and her own parents are pretty bad themselves. They have allowed their daughter to get away with posing for her whore pictures,a nd even encouraged this little tramp in training to do a damn pole dance as a part of her act. This brat has NO room to talk at all, and believe me, I am NO fan of eitehr Madonna OR Angelina Jolie! I have little respoce for people who go around the world adopting kids in other countries while kids in their own country suffer without parents. Screw them all...

Actually, three people can comment: Miley, Madonna and Angelina, but I doubt Madonna or Angelina give a rat's a$$ what Miley Cyrus thinks, says or does. It is unfortunate that this kid takes herself so seriously that she comments on other peoples' parenting. What about the myriad other celebrities who take their kids out in public? Jennifer Lopez was photographed at Disneyland the other day with her kids, was she supposed to stay home, or are celebrities supposed to keep their kids under lock and key until they're 18? If yes, then Miley herself should have been kept at home instead of being "paraded" in the outside world. Miley needs to have a competent adult sit her down and give her some lessons in keeping her mouth shut.
And while we're slamming Miley, WTF is a 15/16YO girl doing dating a 21-23YO man? I may have the ages wrong, but I remember this kid dating a man in his 20s when she was quite young. There's a lot more wrong with that than a celeb getting caught on film taking his/her kids out for ice cream.

Mark and Jerry are you guys 6 or 10 years old?? Miley is a child!! enough said

Why would we assume that these high profile people are choosing the exposure they garner just by living their everyday lives. It goes with the territory. I wouldn't presume to know their motives, much less ascribe anything other than the best to parenting needy children. Secondly, whatever was said by Miley is filtered through the media which sensationalizes everything. For all we know it was a response to a leading(much the same as many comments here) question which media types use tocreate controvesey. She is very young and not food for consumption. Her exposure requires her to say things that less scrutinized teens say, all of the time.

i think you all should just leave her alone because mileys just speaking her mind and there is nothing wrong with that. i also agree with her because madonnas kids are on tv a lot more than mileys little sister and you shouldnt comment on mileys family because they did nothing wrong to you. Also there is nothing wrong with mileys music and the way she acts, infact i bet you are all jealous of her. she has great music and its in the top on itunes and thousands of people buy and like her music. why dont you all just f****** leave her alone because shes a better, more popular, famous, beautiful girl than you will ever be.

Exactamente! Miley knows the effects of being in front of the camera like no one else. Parents take note!
Mileyfan 12-29-2009 @ 5:10PM
I disagree with your statement Miley is not remarkably talented or beautiful. Her brother is even worse looking, if thats possible. There are several contestants on American Idol each year that are more attractive and talented. She was able to achieve superstardom because of her father's status. Therefore she ought not to criticize anyone or attempt to speak about the ills of an industry from which she continues to earn a very good income. These women were not child stars, but they can do for their children what Billy Ray has done for her.

I for one do not care what some 17 year old has to say. It's like taking advice from Paris Hilton except the source is slightly more intelligent.
Jo 12-29-2009 @ 6:37PM
Sorry, but this 17 year old is in no position to discuss parenting issues, she is a child herself and does not have any children. I have viewed some of these TMZ videos and why in the world do women think it's ok for their girls to parade around in skimmpy clothes, and at 9 act like they are 17+ hookers. Miley Cyrus is always asked to comment on adult issues, WTF, she is a child and her dad is her guide to what, growing up entirely too fast? I am happy that she is almost a billionaires but damned can't she be a billionaire teen w/o people pushing her to think and act like an adult. Concentrate on the girl, and keep her out of passing judgement on how others raise their children. When she becomes a mother, then the media can ask her about parenting.
Damonscowgirl 12-29-2009 @ 6:53PM
She cant be hurting too bad. She can get out of it and not sing and act anymore. There isnt a gun to her head. Not like she is complaining of all the fame and money she has!! I think she is a spoil brat!
paula 12-29-2009 @ 6:56PM
Who is She to even comment on how someone is Mothering there Kids how old is she???? Angelina Jolie doesn't seem at all a bad mother in anyway ... Angelina jolie a woman in her 30's who knows alot more about mothering then this 16 yr old know it all .. .i gotta laugh lol

Your Journalizn Tactics are prehistoric "Lucky for you I am not your Editor & Chief" ..When you cover a story YOU really should learn to NOT use such Low Tactics as Using a Girls Health Condtions as a defense in your Editorial.
Miley's Conditon has nothing to do with the facts of your POOR JOURNALIZE.& if you were to Look into the Kind of Person YOU are putting Down You may find the GIRL IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.
If there Is ANYONE who Can Speak bout those ISSUES its MILEY.
Did you ever think to Confront the issues to see in what WAYS she could help the Judgement CALLS instead you use VERBAL ABUSE TO STRICK A Girl Giviing HER opion Down..I think YOU AS A JOURNALIST NEED YOUR HEAD EXAMINED .
Miley ...MILEY U GO GIRL !
Eugene Lyons 12-29-2009 @ 7:26PM
Couldn't agree more! Half the child stars don't understand there parents choices til it's mostly to late, On the extreme end look at Brandis and others that died due to stress or not making the cut and them Hollywood Yoyo's kick them to the curb and take away there lifestyle.
Miley has a great perspective maybe her execution could be better the point Miley is making is sound though.
Suzi Q 12-29-2009 @ 7:50PM
I disagree with this article and most of the commentary in response to it.
Miley and her sister have indeed appeared in a lot of media, but it their media appearances have been done in controlled environments (on sets and concerts) as a result of their parents' efforts to appease the girls' interests in acting and singing. When your Dad is Billy Ray Cyrus, your acting class ends up being the Disney Channel.
In contrast, Madonna and Angelina's children are too young to consent, and are not appearing on camera "for fun" or to further any interests, but are actually being exploited for the sake of furthering the image of the actress moms. These poor kids have had no say in becoming tabloid staples.
smeagol122 12-29-2009 @ 8:10PM
wow you guys really have no life if all you do is complain about pointless shit, who gives a crap what "stars" say. your just feeding the seniority complex that isnt needed in society
reyna 12-29-2009 @ 8:23PM
Im sorry but Miley Cyrus has no right to even comment on parenting. That just makes her a hypocrit becuase she's on TV all the time doing her Hannah Montana Show, singing while pole dancing and has she looked at what her Little sister wears on her youtube show? Im sure the public will assume that Noah will grow up to be the next slut, i know she's a child but no child should wear a top and show her undergarments...thats just free access to pedophiles. talk about her parents not educating them. And as for her old boyfriend...i still believe thats ILLEGAL celebrity or not. You don't see Angelina's or Madonna's kids parading themselves as camera whores.
Charlotte Devereux 12-29-2009 @ 8:30PM
I wouldn't use Madonna or Angelina as an example of parents that place their children in front of the media. The only photos I see aside from the infant ones that were in People magazine, are photos of these two families doing their daily business. So I think targeting them is very immature and unfair on her part and makes it very hard for me to take anything else she has to say seriously. Then you take into account her own history and that of her sister, and it makes you think that this girl is very full of herself and has no business throwing stones.
