While the city was racking up firsts after the 2013 countdown, first kisses, first confetti drops, another first occurred — New York City's first baby of 2013.
It was initially believed that the first baby was born in New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn at 12:54 a.m. to parents Benjamin Brown and Jungmin Oh.

Chicago Couple Welcomes In First Baby Of New Year
Georgia Acosta and Fernando Alvarado of Little Village, welcomed Aydan Alvarado into the world at 12:08 p.m.
He was delivered at St. Anthony Hospital in Lawndale, weighing 7 pounds, 3 ounces.
Baby Aydan joins his two older sisters who are 3 and 9 years-old.
Fernando Alvarado believes babies born on New Year's Day to be good luck, but still hopes to keep his daughter out of trouble.
