Preschool Version of 'Jersey Shore' May Top Original
Filed under: Funny Stuff, New In Pop Culture
"Jersey Shore," MTV's latest foray into the reality-TV genre, has spawned plenty of opinion -- from upset New Jersey tourism executives to viewers who swear the show is an accurate portrayal of the lives of Italian-American young adults. But our favorite reaction just might be this hilarious video of preschool kids gelled up and ready to party with their juice boxes.
The Huffington Post delights in sharing the clip, calling it "what the Internet does best: Use kids to mock adults."
Others, including Daniel Cappello, find the show less amusing. Cappello is the executive director of the Jersey Shore Convention & Visitors Bureau and he tells the Wall Street Journal that the series content puts the vacation destination in a bad light.
In case you've been living under a pop-culture rock, "Jersey Shore" follows eight Italian-Americans who share a summer house in Seaside Heights, N.J. In it, the tanned players engage in sex, fist fights and put an awful lot of gel in their hair.
"I don't want someone from Bucks County saying I'm not going to the Jersey Shore when they see these, frankly, shocking images of people who are visiting there," Cappello tells the Journal.
Whatever your opinions about the show, we can't help but laugh when a little kid utters the line: "We love being at the Jersey Shore."

I maintain much of my sarcastic, dry humor and am very open-minded. That said, it makes me sad that parents think it is amusing to have their toddlers emulate these idiots. Granted, these idiots are making tons off there stupidity... but is that what we really want to keep pushing for values? As much as I want children of my own, I can't imagine subjecting children to this idiocy.

They are arrogant, conceited bastards and I have no idea why. NY is full of crime, bad smells, and homeless people, and for some reason they feel the need to claim everything as their own. Things like the Statue of Liberty, the Giants, the Jets, the 1994 soccer World Cup.......all in NJ. New Yorkers are pathetic. Oh and PS, people in NY say "Joisey", while people in NJ say Jersey.

ACS said...Someone is suffering from NY envy, look darling I live in NYC, crime is way down, I'm only 19 and it hasn't been an issue at all in my lifetime. There are not that many homeless people, the thing is unlike Jersey we provide food and temporary housing for ours, and news flash, the statue of liberty is AMERICA's but it happens to be in NY, Jersey just wanted to try and nab it so they could get tourists. Which might I add was a failed attempt. Last I checked it was the NY giants and the NY jets too, and honestly, I've never heard anyone in NY say "joisey" in my LIFE. So have fun with those sour grapes, NY-envy is priceless :D

KimmieB17 said...Ummm...ACS..you are dead wrong about the Statue of Liberty being in NYC. Yes, it is considered to be a NY item, but if you really check up on your facts, the statue is on the New Jersey side of the Hudson. Also, it is true that the Giants and Jets do have New York attached to their name, but in all respect, they practice and play in New Jersey. Oh and btw, the only people who I have heard say, "Joisey" where from NY.

seneca627 said...Sorry ACS, no envy here. You are clueless, which is obvious by your statements. Try looking at a map once in a while. NY is so great that the Jets and Giants play in NJ. As a matter of fact, they are building their nice new stadium in NJ as we speak. If you want to talk about envy, talk about why all if NY is so great you people are always here. Talk about how your companies and your residents with money are leaving NY to go to the Jersey City harbor. Your people can't even drive. The left lane of a highway is the PASSING LANE. It doesn't mean you sit in the left lane driving 60 mph holding up traffic. You pass someone and move back over.

Debera said...Wonder what pea brain went and directed these children to do Jersey Shore. If it was a daycare my child would be pulled. This is just wrong and the children should be watching Sesame St. and not trying to imitate the actors from Jersey Shore. It is sad when adult subjects children to such behavior. And when Jersey Shore is on TV these little cuties should be in bed.

The parents of these children should be if not charged with child endangerment at least biotch slapped into reality. The females in Jersey Shore portray mindless bimboos and the males remind me of men that are dealing with unresolved closet sexuality issues.

Kathy Dunham said...ARE YOU KIDDING ME? THIS IS SO AGAINST THE LAW. THIS IS USING CHILDREN WITH ADULTS IN AND ADULT SCENE'S DOING ADULT THINGS. BORDERLINE CHILD PORN. AND WHOMEVER LET THIS HAPPEN SHOULD HAVE THERE LICENSE REMOVED PERMANENTLY: What else are they doing that the Public eye cannot see? To the Producers of that OUTRAGE on Children; It was obvious that those kids were not comfortable in that situation. AT LEAST THEY HAVE SOME MORAL GROUND. They know Bars and Bedrooms are a NO-NO.

Debera said...And if I may add I am surprised that Parentdish condoned this video thinking that it is cute. There is nothing cute with teaching children slang for what is suppose to be the term for an Italian, to show strangers their tummy's or what is suppose to be a six pack. Or for little girls to run around looking and acting like grown adults looking for a good time. This was a bad judgment call for everyone involved at the cost of children. Shame on the adults and shame on Parentdish.

HLA said...OK, Debrea, Kathy, and tracer,
Are you really this crazy or just suffering from "mad-cow exposed meatloaf" induced paranoia? This was a harmless parody that poked fun at a reality TV show. A TV show that portayed the exploits of 20somethings on vacation, doing what 20somethings do. From your comments, I would imagine that none of you really watched the kids' clip (or the show for that matter) to get the humor. The girl on a sugar kick saying "wow, I'm crazy" as she bounces from one foot to another. "Let's go to my room...Wanna play trucks? I have a boyfriend...OK" I mean, really...The one kid pulling up his shirt to show his bellybutton. Kids at this age don't sexuallize ANYTHING! Uhm, boderline child porn? Really??? Are you seriously THAT delusional? While I agree that there are often very loose moral standards applied out there in the world, this was certainly not one of those times. I would suggest that while you sit in judgement, you may not want to cast that gaze in your own direction, lest you find yourself judged by your own ludicrous standards. I assume that the only reason any of you had time to reply to this clip is because your local "Book Burning Clubs" are taking winter break.

OVERALL - HOW CAN ANYONE DENY THE FACT THAT JERSEY SHORE ENRICHES OUR LIVES AND PROVIDES MEANINGFUL CONTENT TO OUR DAILY LIVES!
Just go ahead and try to negate the societal benefits of Jersey Shore!

LooseTies said...First, I think you guys need to loosen the grip the depends have on your crotch...and relax. They had them go in the bedroom and play with TRUCKS...they were sipping APPLE JUICE. The whole point was to make a CHILD version of the show. Or did you guys miss that whole thing?!...smh. The kids probably don't even know what they are mocking...or even what they're saying. It's adults with DIRTY MINDS who ASSOCIATE a negative connotation to what they're doing.
Some people are so uptight they fail to recognize the entire point of the parody. This is why shows like Family Guy exist...to piss off people like you...and let you guys sound off and sound as ridiculous as you sound now. Congratulations.
and btw...the girl from NYC...please don't argue with people who are mad that they HAVE to claim to be from the ARMPIT of America aka Jersey. Calling NY a dump...but every time you hit 278 you gotta put on a gas mask. please....
