This morning, the Duggars showed off Josie Brooklyn, baby number 19, to the world on the Today show. While the preemie, who was born on Dec. 10, was not present, the family showed photos of the petite newborn, who was adorned with a pink bow in her wispy locks.
Mom Michelle Duggar, star of TLC's recently renamed "19 Kids and Counting," said that baby Josie is doing well in the neonatal intensive care unit at Arkansas Children's Hospital. The baby is expected to stay in the hospital for at least another month.
"Josie is seven weeks old today and absolutely beautiful. In gratefulness to God and thanks to the excellent staff at Arkansas Children's Hospital, she is growing and getting stronger each day," Michelle and husband Jim Bob tell ParentDish through their spokesperson. "And although like any preemie her age, she has a long road ahead, we are encouraged about her progress to date. Our family is enjoying Little Rock and every minute we get to spend with little Josie." Many family members have relocated temporarily to Little Rock, Ark., from their hometown, Springdale, to be close to the new baby.
The super parents also took a moment to acknowledge their fans.
"Thank you for the prayers and well wishes -- the outpouring of support has been tremendous," they said. "We can only hope that in introducing Josie to the world and sharing her story, we can support and inspire other families facing the same struggle with a premature baby."
On Sunday, Jan. 31, TLC will air a new episode of the uber-family's reality TV show, "Special Duggar Delivery," which follows the them back in December as Michelle developed preeclampsia and delivered Josie three months earlier than her March due date. At birth, Josie weighed 1 lb., 6 oz.

"Oh, I think that day was one of the most scary moments of my life," Michelle said on the Today show. She reports that Josie, now seven weeks old, weighs 2 lbs., 4 oz. and has recently come off a ventilator.
"We look forward to the day that we can bring her home to join the rest of the bunch," added dad Jim Bob.

Should thank God, That she has only one special needs child.
I have a special needs child, life is hard anyway,
Add a special needs to the family, Is extremly difficult,
With all the different specialists you see over, there childhood and somes times beyound, Is a lifetime comitment, And finding someone to care for that child after you are gome, is a enormos cominment.
Please for all your childrens sake, Take a look into your heart, And reconsider, having more children, You invited the public into your home for your last few births, each birth has been more difficult,
I think you Higher Poewr (god) is telling you it is time to stop,
Take Care,

Barbie said...God didn't want a woman to have 19 kids. MENOPAUSE will stop this insanity. She has issues and thinks the woman has to be pregnant and popping out babies to be worth something. Geesh I saw the show and they use the older kids to take care of the younger ones and they do it 24/7. The parents don't even parent. SICK family.

Who are you to say how many children people should or shouldn't have. Do you have any kids? This family is self sufficent and takes very good care of each other (something most families don't do). I don't see any drugs/alcohol/or sex abuse. Do you? Well as far as I can tell maybe it's just none of your business to make such rude comments. Take a look at yourself in the mirror, before you judge anyone else. You may be surprise to see that you are not perfect. If you think you are, boy are you living in a fantacy world and maybe you should just shut your mouth.

We are America, different people with different views and beliefs, that is what makes this country great. I think people should get off their backs, they do have alot of kids which is not the norm but have you ever looked at their kids they seem well adjusted, well-groomed and happy. For the people that say they are brain washed, dont all parents raise their children and pass on their views about life and religion to them, how would each of us like to be judged how how we are doing raising our own kids. Leave the Duggars alone and if you dont like them dont watch the show, I think their great and at least their trying to do what they think is right which is more that alot of parents today are doing.

I say congrats on your newest member of the family Duggars I wish her and the rest of you a long and happy life.

Why not just let us all be happy for them and bask in that knowledge. Unless you know something other than this to be true through your special relationship with that awesome power.

Jennifer said...Actually, the chance of having a healthy baby increases with the number of healthy babies delivered. You mentioned the number of children she's had (rather than her age) and one has nothing to do with the other. She is also a non-smoker who doesn't drink, take drugs, and eats a healthy diet, is active, and gets prenatal care. The only reason she had a problem with this baby was preeclampsia, a complication that ANYONE can have, even first-time mothers. I don't see what business it is of ours when good parents have many children. They support the children and are raising productive, positive members of society.

They have raised the most modest and respectful children I have ever seen, when some people can't even raise 2 kids with any respect or mannors, maybe its people like THEM who should stop having kids. Best of wishes to the Duggars and new baby Josie.

Reality shows should ban this genre of exploitation. The octomom, gosslins and duggars should all be thrown on the trash heap of reality show history. And never should prolific breeders ever be allowed on the tube again.
