Famous for: Singing, Being interrupted by Kanye West

Birthdate: Dec. 13, 1989

Pennsylvania native Taylor Swift went from karaoke singer to Billboard's Artist of the Year in just a few short years. She earned her record deal at age 14, based on her performance at a café in Nashville. Her very first single, "Tim McGraw," which was played on the radio when she was 16, became an immediate hit, shooting straight into the top 10 on Billboard's country charts. The video for the song won Swift a CMT (Country Music Television) Music Award.

When her self-titled debut CD finally hit stores, it also hit the top of the country charts and stayed there for 24 weeks, thanks in part to the mega-singles, "Teardrops on My Guitar" and "Should've Said No."

"Teardrops" also helped Swift gain crossover appeal with a pop remix. A quickie holiday album, "Sounds of the Season", kept fans satisfied until the release of "Fearless," which debuted at number one on the Billboard album chart -- that's not just the country chart, but the all-encompassing album chart. The singles, "Love Story," "White Horse," and "You Belong with Me," cemented her status as a pop/country crossover artist. "Fearless" went on to become the best-selling album of 2009 and it also make Swift the youngest artist to ever win a Grammy for Album of the Year.

Many awards followed, but the one people most remember is her win for Best Female Video at the 2009 MTV Music Awards. That was when her acceptance speech was famously interrupted by Kanye West, who jumped on stage, grabbed the microphone, and told the audience that while he was happy for Taylor, Beyoncé had made one of the best videos of all time -- of all time. Swift survived. And she has since beaten out Beyoncé as the female artist with the most Top 40 singles in the '00s. She is also the artist with the most songs on the video game "Band Hero," which allows players to actually be Taylor Swift.
