By now you are a pro at using your iPhone to placate your kids (in the car, in the waiting room), but sometimes you might wonder if that time could be better spent. Perhaps in a way that would be educational and creatively stimulating? Well another mom and dad were wondering the same thing, so they came up with Tales2Go, a new subscription service for your device that provides instant access to more than 800 narrated stories -- everything from Stone Soup to Paul Bunyan. Now they can listen to Rapunzel in the backseat, and you can enjoy a little peace of mind.
Available for $25 per year at tales2go.com.

I don't own an iphone and the phone I do have does not have internet connection and my kids aren't allowed to touch it...ever. They also aren't allowed to play with husband's ipod touch or his fancy touch screen phone that does have internet access.
When we're in the car the kids make up long stories about their "LaLa Lands" which are inhabited by strange creatures (made of spaghetti and ice cream) and where hamsters rule with iron fists...er, furry fists. The tales can be quite amusing.

I have all kinds of apps for her to play with, apps for sorting, stories, games, dress up, etc. My mother has even agreed that the iPod touch has been a life saver for us and is getting my daughter one for her birthday. Its great, gives back positive reinforcement, encourages creativity and the learning possibilities are enormous!
