At least she will if we're not careful.
The plastic woman is no longer content to stay in her dream house, only occasionally stepping out to be an astronaut or veterinarian. She wants power.
And her latest power grab is -- uh-oh -- in Germany.
The Guardian newspaper of London reports Barbie showed up at the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg earlier this month ingeniously disguised as German President Angela Merkel. Or perhaps not so ingeniously.
Merkel is a realistically aged and proportioned 57-year-old world leader. The Merkel Barbie doll, despite a Merkelesque wardrobe and hairdo, is still long-legged, blond and curvy with ocean blue eyes a man (or Ken doll) could drown in.
But Ken can only dream; the Merkel doll will not be sold. She was a one-of-a-kind item created just for the toy fair. Apparently, this Barbie doesn't want little girls playing with her. She just wants to show the world what she is capable of doing.
Ruling Germany is just one of those capabilities. The Guardian reports Barbie also showed up at various times during the fair as Oprah Winfrey, J.K. Rowling and other internationally renowned rich and powerful women.
Today the toy aisle, tomorrow the world?

Which is why she has always proportions so unrealistic that it has been proven she could not exist and not crumple from the forces of gravity. Its the same reason Barbie has always had such demeaning positions in 'life'. She was created to be a male fantasy and then Americans started using her as an educational tool for young girls. Brilliant choice made by our parents and their parents before them. Its only fitting political Barbie would make a return to her home land to start a position of power. This also means everyones favorite protypical female model-is nothing but a 'dirty foreigner/immigrant'
ahahaha thats what people get for being under educated while trying to make choices to remain popular or let their kid be. Half the women and children in this country grew up making choices to be more like a plastic sex doll. Thankfully my mother is no whore, and I am no idiot. Sorry about the rest of you...
