I haven't read the book, so I don't know all of the circumstances, but as far as I know, muslim culture sets puberty as the official milestone between childhood and adulthood. Many kids will be married in name to a man that gives their families dowries, but not actually go and live with said man until menstruation - hence they can still do errands for their mothers.

I feel the problem is really that it's hard to accept arranged marriages to people we still regard as children. Personally, I think it's very disturbing!

100 years ago in USA, set a SPECIFIC age in which you can marry and participate in sexual activity. In other words, if you have not reached puberty at 10 years old, you could easily 100 years back in USA, have had prepubescent intercourse!

Will you HYPOCRITES condemn the people back then who committed sexual acts at the age of 10? Or will you have DOUBLE STANDARDS by allowing that, by disallowing the marriage of a person? If the female wanted to marry, in Islam, there is no SPECIFIC age for marriage, because the limit is puberty which can occur at any age.

YOU CANNOT BE FORCED INTO MARRIAGE IN ISLAM, and there is NO authentic Islamic text you can bring to claim otherwise. Your USA law allowed the possibility for prepubescent intercourse to occur. Islamic teachings does NOT allow this.

YOU CANNOT pickup blacksheep Muslims and analyse an ENTIRE religion based on them. Can I analyse USA's legislations and teachings based on the blacksheeps of the community? If ANY Muslim forces a person to marry, he/she is clearly contradicting the teachings of Islam. In Islam, when a person reaches puberty (Quran 4:6), he/she can decide to get married if he/she wants to. No-one can force you to. A "child molestor" would have completed the marriage STRAIGHT AWAY at 6 years old, yet Muhamamd NEVER did this, because he was NO child molester.

Now, if your going to convict someone of a crime, it HAS to be in your jurisdiction. You cannot convict a man 1,420+ years ago with the laws of your country. Neither can you convict a man 1,420+ years ago with the laws of 2010. A policeman in New York CANNOT arrest someone in Idaho, because it is out of it's jurisdiction. Same way, you CANNOT go back 1,420+ years ago to an EXPOS FACTO law, and leave your jurisdiction to try and justify what blacksheeps are doing.

There is NO law in 7th Century Arabia that Muhammad violated. NONE. You CANNOT convict a person 1,420+ years ago, with the laws of 2010. You have a problem here with rationality. People back then (over 1400 years ago) used to have very short life-spans in Arabia. They used to live between 40 to 60 years maximum. So it was only normal and natural for girls to be married off at ages 9 or 10 or similar, INCLUDING the non muslims. Your OWN non muslims married at young ages during that time period, you lived in Arabia, because of the period at that time. That is why girls as young as 9 or 10 were married to men as old as 30 or even older. The culture back then and in many third world countries (NON-MUSLIM ONES TOO) is quite different than what you live in today.

People back then in Arabia reached puberty quicker due to food habits and the weather there. Hence, people who where 9 years old then had already reached puberty. It would have been NORMAL of children to reach puberty quicker, because of this.

Aisha was also VERY mature for her age both mentally and physically due to modest and far superior discipline. She was NOT like your common 9 year old kid, who is still dependant on the parents. Science tells us today, that the closer that you are to the equator, the quicker you reach puberty. Science also tells us that Saudi Arabia is close to the equator, as compared to your western countries. Hence, people in Arabia matured QUICKER than other countries, which means Aisha even matured quicker than other countries.

Is it possible for a 9 year old child to reach puberty? Science tells it is exceptionally plausible and possible, even if you don't have good foot habits and don't live near the equator:

Truly, it is sick to have an AGE LIMIT of 10, because NOT EVERYONE REACHES PUBERTY AT 10. In contrast, the Islamic teaching based on the scriptual teaching it is far superior because it does NOT give any chance of prepubescent intercourse to occur, based on the teachings. This is because there is no specific age limit of marriage, because puberty can occur at different ages for different people. This means that you can marry at puberty, which shows that the Islamic teaching make it IMPOSSIBLE for you to commit prepubescent intercourse, which shows superiority of the Islamic teachings.

An American woman is 10 times more likely to be raped than to die in a car crash.

In 1990 in USA, 1 in 15 rape victims became pregnant as a result of being raped. (Statistics on Sexual Violence Against Women: A Criminological Study, 1990.)

I wonder why you Islamaphobes don't go fishing for all of these incidents (which are FAR WORSE than this article) and blow them out of proportion? Double standards, which the media employs to persuade you to make false generalizations on an ENTIRE religion.
