Inviting a significant other to stroll the red carpet with you at the Academy Awards is a pretty impressive date night. Which is why we just love it when famous moms, dads, kids and siblings make the evening a family night, instead.

Best Supporting Actress nominee Maggie Gyllenhaal brought her actor hubby Peter Sarsgaard as her date, but we liked seeing her pose on the red carpet with her movie star brother, Jake Gyllenhaal.

"Precious" actor Lenny Kravitz arrived with his daughter, Zoe, 21 [mom is actress Lisa Bonet], while Morgan Freeman [Best Actor nominee for "Invictus"] hit the red carpet with his adult daughter, Morgana. And "Hurt Locker" Best Actor nominee Jeremy Renner? He brought his mom, Valerie Clearley.

"Precious" director Lee Daniels, brought Clara, 14, the niece he raises, as his date.

"This counts as two good weeks of her speaking to me when we go home," Daniels tells the Associated Press, "because all the kids are going to be looking at her like, 'You was at the Oscars.' "

Singer/actress Miley Cyrus, 17, attended the awards show with her mother, Tish [and pointed out mom's angel wing tattoos].
