Real-Life Cookie Monster Steals Money From Girl Scout
Filed under: In The News
Who would steal a Girl Scout's cookie dough?
A man in Tacoma, Wash., made off with $460, the proceeds from the sale of more than 100 boxes of the popular, iconic treats.
Beverly Reed, 16, was selling cookies outside a Safeway store when a man grabbed her money and ran.
"I think it's reached an all-time low in this case. It was approximately $400 but the reality is it's the principle of the matter," Detective Gretchen Aguirre of the Tacoma Police Department tells "Good Morning America."
Outrage at the theft has attracted more than enough donations to cover the amount that was stolen. Reed is paying it forward by sending the extra money to Operation Cookie Drop, which sends Girl Scout cookies to U.S. troops who are abroad, according to KOMO TV.
"Individual strangers, people I didn't even know started giving me donations and that made me feel really good because they don't even know me and they wanted to help me," Reed said.

DESSIE said...Unbelievable! Stealing from a Girl Scout... shame, shame. There should not be any type of stealing at all from anyone. Hope the man was caught.
My daughter is a Girl Scout and there is a lot of work that goes into selling cookies. It's not all about setting a table up outside a store. It is so nice however to hear that people stepped up to help this girl out.
One question though..WHY was she selling cookies by her self? That is against the rules. A booth set up requires at least 2 girls and 2 parents. If that rule had been followed this would not have occured. Someone has some explaining to do......
