A nice Emily or Sarah or Melissa? Soo not Hollywood. Names like Brian, William or Ken? Yeah, right. Because, apparently, when you're a big-time star -- be it actor, musician, model or athlete -- it seems there is a weird-quotient that must be factored in when it comes to your child's name. Whether you borrow from the supermarket (Apple, Sage, Thyme), an atlas (Bronx, Brooklyn, Memphis) or superhero-sound-alikes (Kal-el, Moxie CrimeFighter, Pilot Inspektor), stars are guaranteeing their offspring will stand out in one way or another.
Here's a list of ParentDish's 100 weirdest baby names, in alphabetical order. Hey, the richer the parents are, the less likely you are to be teased. Just ask Tallulah, Rumer and Scout.

Amanda said...Zola isn't so weird. That's my great-grandmother's name. Sure, its old fashioned, but then again, so were Zoe, Chloe, and Olivia before they became popular.
Buster and Caspar are actual names too. Buster Keaton and sure, Caspar was a ghost, but Caspar is still an actual name.
Some weird names I've heard of people coming up with as "alternate egos" for themself are Reven which is Never backwards and Neveah which is Heaven backwards... although, I've heard of some people actually naming their daughters that. There are also is it, 2 or 3 little boys in the US whose name is Espn... pronounced es-pin. I also believe there are five little girls in the US who are named Abcde pronounced Ab-sid-ee... sounds oddball but pretty enough, so why not Absydee or something like that,,, not just the first five letters of the alphabet.
Some people are weird.

Lisa said...Hey Amanda, Caspar is not the ghost, he was one of the Three Wisemen. The ghost is spelled "Casper". As far as weird, I knew an attorney whose name is Richard (Dick) Head. Also, I read about a girl who's name was La-sha (La DASH a) There's original, then there's stupid. Just another way for people to get attention.

Jamie said...Ugh. Whatever happened to traditional/normal names.....I read an article recently about parents naming their children off the wall and often stupid things shows how narcissistic our society has become.
When I had my daughter, Courtney, I knew I did not want to give her an "unusual" name or spelling, why give other children something to make fun of??? Why give your kid a name that they are going to have to constantly explain, spell, and/or pronounce their entire life? Give them an advantage, choose a name that isn't going to set them apart in a bad way. I mean really, Bronx Mowgli? lol
