Megan Fox, Brian Austin Green Star in Video Protesting School Budget Cuts in California

When parents at a Los Angeles elementary school got angry about proposed education cuts from the state budget, they decided to fight back with a little star power.
The Wonderland Avenue Elementary PTA decided to create a video, and they asked "Beverly Hills, 90210" alum Brian Austin Green, whose son attends the school, to star in the video, The Los Angeles Times reports. Green's girlfriend, Megan Fox, agreed to costar.
With the help of viral comedy video site Funny or Die, parents wrote and produced the four-minute short called "Hot for Teachers." In the video, Fox ends up being mistaken for the new fifth grade teacher, and students tell her their teacher was laid off and their class was combined with another, the Times reports.
At the end of the video, Green and Fox urge viewers to sign a petition on the Say No to Cuts Web site and to "call, write and annoy the governor until he cries for his mommy."
"The video is an exaggeration. It's meant to be funny, but the question is, when is enough enough?" says John Koch, an entertainment public relations expert whose daughter attends the school. "How far are these cuts going to go? It's a tough situation for a lot of people."

Huh? said...This is the WRONG person to even talk about this issue. I could have sworn not too long ago that MF said that she didn't believe in schooling and never took it seriously. (Which can explain her lack of brains).
Why does she care now? Oh thats right because she thinks all women are against her and this is her way of showing that she actually cares about something other then herself.
Well if she could act better then she could trick people more easily but since she can't, she just comes off stale and bitchy in the ad. Not funny at all. And the end that end saying was very dumb to say the least. Very dumb, very unfunny.

I am considering leaving California just so I can get a good education. California is becoming nothing but a trash state the way things are being run.

As a resident of California, I am not happy with this situation, but with an increasing people and businesses leaving the State due to over taxation and regulation, and an increasing number of residents on the public dole for something, the State only has itself to blame.
Sooner or later you run out of other people's money and that is what California is now facing.
Your state is next...

Right on said...I think Huh? made a good point. They also didn't come off sounding jealous. People really need to stop bringing that into conversations about this girl.
Also I think we are ALL looking at the big picture. I believe they should have also had someone else to do this video or something like it. She really isn't the best role model out there and her views on schooling isn't the best.
I believe if they would have bought in different actors or singers who are well-educated and are as well good role models then the video would be taken more seriously and would not result in such a dull video and would also be respectful at the same time. He is still Governor and attacking him with his past movie roles seems too childish.
Now do I sound jealous? I think not. I'm one person telling it like it is.

Bruce said...California is a total mess due to millions of illegals, entitlement programs and far more people than the state can sustain, and education is suffering due to it. As for Megan Fox, wouldn't she do better in a drama about a teacher seducing a student? I know I would have gone for it in high school, and actually at 17 I got picked up by my ex-junior high teacher on Fairfax Ave which didn't seem to cause any harm and I still think of her kindly.
No answers here, but I might suggest people who are sick of the mess in California LEAVE, instead of blaming poor Ah-nold, who really did inherit the biggest mess of a state in the union.

If they care so damn much why don't they get off of a few mil of their stock pile of cash in stead of begging from real Working Americans. Nope, you won't see those phony fake a$$e$ getting off of theirs. They just pretend to care so you'll give yours so they can keep theirs

Jon said...Isn't it a bit ironic that the two people most emblematic of succeeding without any real high school education (they attended, but clearly didn't learn anything) are the ones promoting the fight against school budget cuts? Both are dumb enough to have dropped out after their sophomore year and not ended up any smarter than if they had stayed until graduation. Seriously, if you want relevant celebrities to spit venom about cutting school budgets, then how about enlisting the help of celebrities who actually have made use of their education, like Natalie Portman or James Franco? Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green have no business lobbying for public schools; yes, it's a nice gesture, but people can't take education talks seriously from people who clearly have no education of their own. I only wish this commercial had depicted Megan Fox using her supremely limited knowledge to try and teach the elementary school class; she would have failed tremendously, and made this even more appopriate for posting on Funny or Die.

We were offered wood, metal, and print shop, marching band, daily physical education, trips to the museum, and a wide array of extra-curricular activities. Why is it, then, that with all the money being dumped into the system, most, if not all, of these things that I use to enjoy are no longer being offered?
Perhaps it has something to do with administrative officers driving around in Mercedes cars, owning several homes and arriving at Hollywood galas in limousines.
I don't need a PSA from some half-witted twit about what we are NOT doing for the children. What I need is a PSA showing these bloated bureaucrats that have been bellying up to the trough all this time being publicly flogged in the town square.
Like the man said, "enough is enough".

peapers said......and another thing:
The education system is not failing our children, the PARENTS of these children are failing them.
If you follow an good student home, you will find a stay-at-home parent waiting for them, or at least an involved parent. If you follow a bad student home, you will find no one waiting for them, or at most a parent that couldn't give a damn.
People today use the education system as a baby-sitting service. The majority of these people could easily afford to have one parent stay at home with their children. All they have to do is give up the BMW, or the HD cable, or the weekend golf games, or the cases of beer, or... well, you get my drift.
No amount of money is going to fix this situation. What the problem requires is a paradigm shift in people's attitudes towards raising children.
I swear, this world will be much better off when the last of the baby boomers die off.

Here is an example of what I am talking about:
Scott Veerkamp / Predatory Lending (Franklin Township School Board Member.)
Please review this information from U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley regarding deceptive lending practices:
"Steering payments were made to brokers who enticed unsuspecting homeowners into deceptive and expensive mortgages. These secret bonus payments, often called Yield Spread Premiums, turned home mortgages into a SCAM."
The Center for Responsible Lending says YSP "steals equity from struggling families."
1. Scott collected nearly $10,000 on two separate mortgages using YSP and junk fees. 2. This is an average of $5,000 per loan. 3. The median value of the properties was $135,000. 4. Clearly, this type of lending represents a major ripoff for consumers.
