Josie Duggar Returns to Hospital

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar celebrated the homecoming of their 19th child, Josie, last week, but the littlest Duggar is back in the hospital after her vital signs dropped suddenly in the early morning on April 8.
The couple, co-stars of the TLC reality TV show "19 Kids and Counting," brought Josie, who was born prematurely on Dec. 25, back to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock on Thursday at 3 a.m., according to People magazine.
The family is living in a rented home in Little Rock in order to be as close to the hospital as possible while Josie, who was delivered by C-section at just 25 weeks gestation, gains strength. Mom Michelle suffered from preeclampsia. They brought the little girl -- who now weighs in at four pounds, 12 ounces -- to their temporary home in Little Rock for the first time on April 6.
The magazine reports that fortifiers added to breast milk to boost Josie's calorie intake are the culprit, which led to constipation. The constipation, in turn, caused her vital signs to fluctuate, Jim Bob tells People.
He added that the couple has been keeping a very close eye on their new addition. He quoted the Josie's attending physician, Dr. Robert Arrington, co-director of the hospital's neonatal intensive care unit: "Dr. Arrington told us to never trust a preemie," Jim Bob tells People. "That is really true."
Doctors are trying new combinations of fortifiers for Josie, Jim Bob says, and he adds that he and Michelle are riding the emotional roller coaster of caring for a preemie.
"It seems like she will do great for a few days and then have challenges," Jim Bob tells People. "We are so encouraged about how she's doing, and it is amazing how she's filling out. But, even though she is beyond her due date and over the four-month mark, she is still not at the weight of a full-term baby."
It is not yet known how long Josie will remain at Arkansas Children's Hospital, and Jim Bob tells People that the super-sized family would "really appreciate everyone's continued prayers" for the little girl.

Becky said...I dont think Tony is an ass at all. There is NO reason for anyone to have 19 kids. If that family were black people would be going nuts. I hope she gets her tubes tied. I think one more and either she or the baby isnt going to make it. Its just SELFISH.

My oldest just had his first child, on Valentine's Day, prematurely as Josie. He didn't survive the birth. We got to hold him, and hug him and tell him we love him, and then we had to say good bye and bury him. Regardless of personal views, I have been reminded that ALL babies are blessings. Little Josie is in my prayers.

Joy said...I hope the baby Josie will be Ok. I enjoy the show and I hope they are really the happy family that they appear on TV. Also they all seem to be very pretty kids. Since the white population is becoming less and less it is nice to see all the children maybe we will have a come back. Really no one's business how many children the duggers have. Good luck good God.

It is no one's business how many children they have. I hope and pray that they do not have to endure the pain my husband and I have had to.
BTW: What about focusing that they ARE able to care for their children, they are not on govt.assistance. The children all have the same Daddy; not 19 different ones.

They have been blessed with a large, healthy family that is helping provide for them by being on television. Enough is enough. I do not watch their show because I do not beleive in pimping your children for a living!

Hopefully this one survives and the Duggars WILL NOT have any more children.

If they can handle 19, I can handle 4 and I've learned so much from this kind family. Thank you for being on TV and sharing your family challenges and everyday living experiences. My family and I love all of you. Again, GOD Bless You All!

Mary said...They pay the bills by selling out their privacy and are making money of their kids ... TV whore children ... mom and dad are pimping ... just like Jon and Kate + 8 what make it worse is they are hiding the fact by using religion and their skin color for fame. Most of you wouldn't be cheering them on if they were hispanic or black. Truth hurts ... I'm from a white religious family and everyone like them has drama. Which sells

Yes we were given dominion over this world and its creatures by God. But with dominion means respect and responsibility- at the rate of consumption the average human takes, 19 is not being responsible to the gift of the planet that our Lord gave us. Even if you live minimalistically like alot of the church communes and such.

Mary said...Giving birth to that many children is crazy, but that is MY opinion. Their religious beliefs are why they had as many as they have had. And as far as Tony's comment and being "horny", you have no clue. They only need to have intercourse ONCE in a month and a woman can conceive. You need to read up on your biology. In fact, they practice a certain religious "together time". So, they are not going at it like animals. With today's modern medicine women are having babies at 60 plus. Do I agree with this. Absolutely not, but who am I or any of us to say when, and how many children is enough. At least they are all well cared for and not living ON WELFARE!
