In Theaters: Letters to Juliet
Two love stories in one, "Letters to Juliet" is a fairy tale romance in which true love waits forever and new love is found when you least expect it. With only mild flirting and a few references to making love, the film earns its rating with some fairly tame British curse words. Rated PG, OK for kids 11+
DVD: Leap Year
Set in Ireland and starring Amy Adams, "Leap Year" is a somewhat predictable romantic comedy that is upstaged by the beautiful backdrop of the Emerald Isle. The film features only mild language, some innocent flirting and at least one scene in which drunkenness is played for laughs. Rated PG, OK for kids 11+
TV: dirtgirlworld
An animated series from Australia, "dirtgirlworld" encourages preschoolers to commune with nature and think about eco-friendly living. Future environmentalists will learn about sustainable energy, recycling and, most of all, how living green can be fun. Not Rated, OK for kids 4+
Books: Shakespeare Makes the Playoffs
Writing poetry helps a baseball-loving boy deal with the changes in his life after the death of his mother in "Shakespeare Makes the Playoffs." A sequel to "Shakespeare Bats Cleanup," author Ron Koertge's book takes readers on a touching and often humorous journey as the young poet learns about love, loss and healing. OK for kids 14+
Music: My First Kiss by 3OH!3 and Ke$ha
While the lyrics themselves are profanity-free, the message in "My First Kiss" is far less innocent than the name suggests. That kiss tastes like whiskey and quickly turns into a full-blown makeout session with the boys trying to undress the girls. Iffy for kids 14-15
Web: iTwixie
Another social networking site for the tween set, "iTwixie" runs on girl power and encourages creativity. Billed as the ultimate hangout for tweens, the site is a friendly and supportive place for girls to express themselves through blogs, videos, poetry and essays. OK for kids 8+
Games: Monster Racers
For Nintendo DS and DSi, "Monster Racers" is a fast-paced racing game that takes place in a world inhabited by monsters. As rookie racers, players travel the world picking up potential team members and participating in practice runs, readying themselves for the ultimate race for the world championship title. Rated E, OK for kids 8+
