If you haven't been following along, "American Idol" is down to the final two. Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox are set to square off next Tuesday, May 25 on Fox. Check out KOL's winner prediction with their Idol in a Minute video recap. Will it be Crystal, the Janis Joplin-y, raspy voiced, hippie chick? Or will it be Lee, the vulnerable, sometimes self-deprecating, loaner, dark horse? Does anyone even care anymore?
As parents we know how hard it is to get a good night's sleep, but do you ensure that your children get a good night's sleep? A recent study observed 723 teens and recorded their sleep patterns during the week and on weekends, how often they had trouble sleeping, and how many calories their diet typically consisted of. What researchers found is a link between sleep deprivation and a higher body mass index, which means your child is more likely to gain weight if they're burning the midnight oil too often. This is of course in addition to the toll lack of sleep will take on their grades, attentiveness and overall demeanor. Come to think of it, maybe our inability to sleep at night is the reason we're still fighting with these last 10 pounds?! It's a thought!

Terri said...I care B! I saw something in Lee all along. I like the dark horse, the underdog. Crystal is great, but not your average idol and I think she will do well in her own right. Lee reminds me of a lot of kids I've seen growing up, awkward, isolated; perhaps bullied by ignorant perfects. Been there, done that. You can see it in his eyes; first sorrow and then the light as he focused his eyes on the prize. And watching his confidence bloom right before our eyes, well, I hope more teens have seen this and make their dreams come true too. May sound sappy, but hey, isn't that what dreams are made of? I certainly hope he wins.
