Spider-Man, Catwoman, Superman and other superheroes (OK, superhero wannabes) gathered in Melbourne, Australia, on Saturday in an attempt to crush the Guinness World Record for the most people dressed as superheroes in one place.
With 1,245 Aussies taking time off from their busy saving-the-world schedules, they surpassed the previous record of 1,091, which was set in the U.K., The Australian reports. The event was held to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the release of the first DC comic.
"We did it, we broke the record, my brother," shouted Preston Lewis, the managing director of Warner Bros. Consumer Products in Australia.
Here at ParentDish, we think it's time for the superhero-obsessed U.S. to represent. Send out the Bat signal -- this sounds like a challenge.
