After months of health issues and hospitalization, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar's 19th child, Josie Brooklyn, is finally going home from the hospital, People magazine reports.
Josie weighed just 1 lb. 6 oz. when she was born on Dec. 10 via emergency C-section at just 25 weeks. She then suffered a perforated bowel when she was eight days old.
The couple, stars of TLC's "19 Kids and Counting," took Josie home from the hospital on April 6, but then she was readmitted two days later.
This time, though, doctors have identified the source of her health issues.
"Her digestive issues have been linked to lactose intolerance," says her physician Dr. Robert Arrington, co-director of the neonatal intensive care unit at Arkansas Children's Hospital. "We are happy that she is doing so well and fully expect her to continue to thrive. Today, as she's leaving, she looks like a full-term baby."
The Duggars will live with Josie, who now weighs 7 lbs. 6 oz., in their Little Rock rental house until they are ready to take her home, probably in a few weeks, People reports.
"We're going to wait and see how it all goes," says Michelle. "We're going to take it easy and hang out close to the hospital."

On numerous occasions, Duggar has benn asked how he supports these kids and he refuses to answer. He refuses to release any tax returns or like information. This baby's hospitalization has cost at least $1 million dollars and her future is unsure. She has been subjected to more pain and anguish than most people face in a lifetime. But the Duggars need another meal ticket so they have another child to add to their child-slave brood. Duggar is no better than any other cultist who thinks breeding is his right - but shows no means to be able to raise, cloth, feed and educate these kids as he should. His slimy grin looks just like all the other cultists' who faces are plastered all over TV. People who watch this cultist program have too much time on their hands. Try reading to or spending quality non-TV time with your OWN kids or do some charity work for those truly in need. Duggar is nothing more than a cultist breeder and only God can save his poor exploited children.

Juliepie said...You're not kidding. Jim Bob looks exactly like one of those smarmy tele-cult-evangelists, with a low-rent name to boot. It's obvious he has Michelle under his "spell."
It's time to stop celebrating these sick, twisted religious freaks!

Frankly, I don't see any reason to continue watching the show as it reminds me of a bunch of ignoramuses that are, unfortunately, not material that contributes to intelligence & the future of mankind. We get to see them prepare meals, constantly picking up babies, waundering about the house, occasional jaunt to the zoo, etc. All these kids learn is how to maintain a household (for their own contribution to the population). I mean, really, I don't see where any of these kids has any kind of future; except to marry & start their own massive broods. They could start their own county.
ENOUGH!

Sue said...Congratulations to the Duggars on finally bringing their child home. It was a long struggle having her in the hospital. I know I had my first in the NICU for about a month. It is the hardest thing for a parent to see their child have to go through any of that. Hope all goes well will her and the rest of the family. I only hope that Michelle things twice before having any more children either natural or adopted. You are all ready grandparents -- start enjoying that.

Mindy said...While I don't pretend to understand why they have chosen to have so many children, I am glad to hear that baby Josie is doing well and going home. The children seem to be happy and well adjusted. They do seem a bit too sheltered from the real world, but that is their family choice, and who are we to say if it's wrong or right?

ladyfishnut_1 said...My question is... is Michelle preggers again or did the experience of having Josie influence Jim Bob to get nuetered? It is much easier on a man to get nuetered versus the woman get her tubes tied...Or maybe the doctor that did the C-section "accidental" sniped "something" when delivering Josie:) People remember there's the Duggars' best friends the Bates that are expecting like their 18th child... same scenario. However, they do not live in a big house like the Duggars nor all their children begin with the same letter. If you will notice that the four older girls are the "mamas" and the older boys kinda like hide. Hopefully, Anna/Josh will look at the Duggars and utilize their common sense.

irresponsible wonders of the world said...Sick of this family and their promtoion of irresponsibility for many reasons, some of which are:
family size is too large--imagine if every woman in the U.S. were to take up the same idea? this country would begin to look like India. use birth control--how hard is that?
this is not the 18th century--you should all know this, but here's a reminder that people had large families in the past due to the high infant and child mortality rates.
the be fruitful and multiply mandate no longer has any merit, as it was specifically meant for the OT era.
Ms. Duggar could have died, as well as the newest baby.
their actions don't indicate care to me--they indicate the egocentric desire to mass produce carbon copies of themselves, for whatever particular reason.
Enough already ! I will NEVER watch their show.

Buzz said...I sure wish there weren't so many envious people in this world. Get your facts straight before you comment. You should also give the Duggars credit for all the good they've done for their kids. Since they can afford to have as many kids as they and God want them to have, then I wish them well.
They both work. They are wealthy people however they've made their income. They pretty much built their own home together as a family. They act like families in this country should act. They are religious. They are all happy. Not one of them is dressed sloppy or inappropriate. They help each other. Furthermore, the first-born young man has gone out into the world, married a beautiful woman, and has his own business and house to provide for the next generation of Duggars. This alone is proof that the Duggar methods are working. My family is not like this, although I wish it were. I bet you all cannot say that your families are like them either. They are truly beautiful people inside and out.

DIANE said...I sincerely hope the Duggars do not have anymore pregnancies. Toxemia, the reason Josie was delivered so early exacerbates with every pregnancy. Now they should start acting like responsible parents,,,,no more babies that have to struggle with major health issues and a healthy mother to start mothering not only baby Josie but the other babies that seem to be relegated to their older sisters. Human beings are not meant to mother 19 children. Every child deserves a healthy start and an attentive mother especially for those first years. I would venture a guess that there are some of those kids who need extra attention and are lost in the strange dynamics of Jim Bob and Michelle. This makes for interesting television but at what cost to the family?

Kookie said...While I give the Duggers credit for paying their own way and they are not a drag on society, well behaved children, I think it is unfair of the older ones to take care of the younger ones. The little ones have no full time mother. Sisters are not substitutes. Michelle is not wearing herself out. The kids do all the work. She makes lists and oversees that everyone do their part. That's how she has time to lay around and rest. Even when they are are vacation, the older girls do not have time to enjoy themselves, the are carrying around little ones. They are nice people, but the kids should go to public schools to socialize with others and meet the real world. And if I were the older boy that is married, I would get tired of someone hanging on me all the time.
