Facebook Reunites Mom With Kidnapped Kids

A California mom who says her children were kidnapped by their father more than 15 years ago has been reunited with her son and daughter after she searched for them on Facebook.
Police say Faustino Utrera disappeared from San Bernadino, Calif. with the unnamed woman's two children, then 2 and 3 years old, and haven't been seen since, reports WESH.com.
In March, the woman searched the social media network for her daughter and found someone with her name. She sent the young woman a friend request, and the two began to communicate. The mother immediately contacted San Bernadino District Attorney Kurt Rowley.
"We did some additional investigation until we located Mr. Utrera and the kids in Florida," Rowley tells WESH.
Authorities arrested Utrera and took the children, now teens, into protective custody. They're now with their mom, and will eventually move back to California with her. And that, says Department of Children and Families officials, is where the situation gets complicated.
"There is no relationship there," Carrie Hoeppner of DCF tells WESH. "You don't have that immediate joyful reunification. If in fact that is what will progress, it will take time. These children will have to build a relationship, and that is something that will not happen overnight."

jill said...This story is really sad for the Mother, I can not imagine having my children taken away from me at the young of an age or any age for that matter. But I really feel the most for these kids. Their Dad and that life is all that they know. It's been almost 10 years and I bet they don't remember their Mom at all and now they won't get to see their Dad. It's just sad and I hope they make sure the kids have most say in this situation.

Their mother has hide the boys from me for 9 years and I asked the courts everytime she took me back to court for money almost every year and the courts really dont care about the kids its money is all they care about. IF you ask the courts for a phone # or home address. CSE isnt any help either they look at the man as the Devil! The reply is another court case so where is the fact that the system says its for the kids when its only in it for the money just like CSE and continuation after continuation till the man has no money. I would like to know more why the man ran with the kids? Because in my case the system doesnt care about the boys ever nor does CSE in the man's case. Im not saying this guy was right but as a man you have no rights we all know this. Look on facebook STUPID GUY IN THE MIDWEST.
