What would your child's school do with $500,000? Start an art program? Outfit a new computer or science lab? Save a music program? Tell the folks at Kohl's Department Stores, and you could help bring those dreams to life.
In celebration of the 10th anniversary of its Kohl's Cares philanthropic program, the company is donating a total of $10 million to 20 kindergarten through 12th grade schools across the United States.
The donations are funded by the Kohl's Cares merchandise program, which sells special merchandise, including plush toys and books, and donates 100 percent of net profits to benefit children's health and education initiatives nationwide.
Visit the Kohl's Facebook page to submit your school, cast your votes, view the official rules and get more information.

Melissa Schipper said...It is definitely legitimate. We are in the top 10 right now. If you have extra votes, please vote for Lucas Christian Academy in Lucas, Texas. We have 275 students and we need every vote we can get!

I've voted for East Side Community High School of New York. They are a Title 1 school with little to no resources. Unfortunately this Kohl's Cares challenge looks like it will go to the schools that already have substantial budgets in place and were able to market themselves the best with those budget dollars and not the schools that really really need this money.
Again, may the most deserving schools win... and not the ones with the biggest advertising budgets.
Consider helping East Side Community High climb the ranks and use your extra votes for them. They are the only Title 1 school that even has a chance. Their principle has camped out in a tent in the front of his school for over a week now and brought together the community with his students and they could really use your help. I would be a beautiful thing to show these kids that the world really cares about them.

Jean said...Hello Jesse...I am a resident from Lake Township, Ohio and I voted to our school district due to the fact our High School was totally damaged, our Middle School damaged, our Township Police Department and EMT building was destroyed, 7 people killed, many homes destroyed and our high school students are now going to school at our local community college. Sometimes, it has nothing to do with the budgets, as we too were struggling with bond levies, and sometimes beyond our means. This country is the greatest as we had many states come to our aid with clothes, furniture, cleaning supplies, etc. To sum this up, almost all schools are needy of extra revenues, just some more than ever! I hope LAKE LOCAL SCHOOLS wins in the top 20 and chalkboards, lockers, etc. can be purchased for their temporary home called school!
