When your child is ill, only the best care is good enough. So we're highlighting the hospitals that are leading the way in research, innovation, treatment and, most importantly, patient care. This is the tenth in the series on best children's hospitals in the United States.

Millions of children in this country have a kidney or urological problem, such as urinary tract infections, diabetic nephropathy, kidney stones, enlarged prostate, nephritis (inflammation of the kidney), polycystic kidney disease, urinary incontinence and prostate cancer.

These children need top-notch care, and the following three hospitals have been recognized for their work in treating kidney disorders and urological diseases:

Riley Hospital for Children, Indianapolis, Ind.
Ranked No. 3 in urology in the U.S. News survey and lauded in the Parents/NACHRI survey, Riley Hospital for Children is affiliated with the urology department at Indiana University School of Medicine. As one of the 15 largest children's hospitals in the nation, the 235-bed facility counts more than 135,000 pediatric patient visits each year. The urology team sees more than 8,000 people on an outpatient basis and operates on more than 1,600 children a year.

Massachusetts General Hospital for Children
, Boston, Mass.
The hospital was ranked No. 6 in kidney disorders in the U.S. News report, and was named a top hospital in The Leapfrog Group's hospital survey, which measures hospital safety, quality and efficiency. The full-service Pediatric Nephrology and Hypertension Unit emphasizes personalized, prompt and friendly consultation and care for both inpatients and outpatients.

Texas Children's Hospital
, Houston, Texas
The primary pediatric training site for Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Children's Hospital is one of the largest pediatric hospitals in the United States. It ranked nationally in all 10 specialties in the U.S. World & News Report
survey and No. 1 in pediatric kidney treatment. It was also named one of the top 10 hospitals in the Parents magazine/NACHRI survey. Speaking the language of children, the hospital's nephrology nurses outreach to critically-ill children receiving pediatric renal dialysis in hospitals across the country through an education program that features "Rena Dee," a 16-inch cloth doll who teaches children how to survive and thrive with chronic kidney problems and in coping with end-stage renal disease (ESRD).
