It's a moment that Robbie Wilson won't soon forget.
According to Buzzfeed, where we first saw this awesome clip, it was the bottom of the sixth inning, with two outs -- which is the final out in Little League -- when Robbie's Auburn, Wash. teammates "voted" him in to pitch his first-ever Little League World Series game against a team from Fairfield, Conn.
We especially love the shot of two of his teammates behind him, pointing at him, as the coach and manager make their decision. Even better? Robbie went on to win the game, defeating Connecticut 9-5.
According to a spokeswoman in the Little League West Region Headquarters, Auburn was eliminated from the World Series after losing 7-5 to Texas on Aug. 26, but the team's overall performance in the tournament will catapult them into the ranks of the top four teams in the country.
This adorable video makes us want to head to the ballpark, or have a catch with our kids in the back yard. Way to go, Robbie!

Fan from Georgia said...I watched several of the play-off games recently and I was hoping to see my girlfriend from Pearland, Texas end up with her team playing my team from Georgia in the final. That would have been awesome.
But the most AWESOME game of this years play-offs turned out to be the Washington vs Connecticut game and ROBBIE getting his chance to pitch. This kid turned from 5 ft tall to be 9 ft tall as he ran from center field to the pitcher's mound. The love and admiration shown by his teammates and coaches was absolutely priceless. To be able to listen to the coach's comments to his team's members about who "they" wanted to pitch made it that much more special. To hear all of them say "We Want Robbie" and to see the coach and his players all look out into centerfield and call for Robbie was great. The actions of his two teammates that were standing beside him in centerfield really showed the comradery of this entire team. To watch all of his teammates giving him high-fives as he strode to the pitcher's mound is the stuff that movies are made about. Also to be able to watch his mother's reaction during this event was wonderful as well. I know that her heart was probably pounding so hard that the seats were shaking around her. I now have a lasting momento that will make me smile even though some things may not be going so well on any given day. Thanks for all of these memories.
To see all of this unfolding made me realize that my Georgia team winning was not the most important thing to me afterall. The most important thing was to be able to see such outstanding achievements and sportsmanship among these young athletes. To all of the parents of players that were fortunate enough to participate in this years LLWS games, congratulations to you all. You did GOOD !!!

The winning coach was insisting that one run had scored before that out so, the game was tied. I work recreation and wish I had more coaches who would work to improve all the players and not just the natural athletes. Winning isn't the only thing that improves a program.

People are putting too much emphasis on how much they got to see, the great wholesome look of those kids doing something that is, unfortunately too often overlooked, the great American pasttime. You go Robbie, you and all of your fellow team mates and all of the other great participants of the game. GO LITTLE LEAGUE!!

I had the pleasure of coaching them in baseball from 5 years old until they entered highschool and I am positive they have some feelings about the bone head stuff their old man pulled on and off the field. That being said I really don't think some folks understand just how hard it is to reach the level of this tournament. If I read this story right it was an admirable act by his teammates as well as the coaches. I do not know all the circumstances but from my view it is an event wothy of the notoriety given to Rudy and Notre Dame
