Off-Duty Cop Puts Scare on Would-Be Romeo

You catch some punk having sex with your teenage daughter, so you go over to his house and scare the you-know-what out of him.
Wait. It gets better. You happen to be a full-blown, uniform-wearing, gun-toting cop. So you slap the cuffs on him and tell him the district attorney will probably throw the book at him. That ought to really put the fear of God into the little %$#@!
Sound like a good idea?
It apparently did to an off-duty San Jose, Calif., motorcycle cop. At least it did at the time. Now he's looking down the business end of an internal affairs investigation.
The San Jose Mercury reports the officer stormed over to the house of a 15-year-old boy who had allegedly had sex with the officer's 14-year-old stepdaughter. The boy's stepfather used his cell phone to capture the Aug. 30 incident on video.
According to the newspaper, the officer showed up in uniform and slapped the cuffs on the boy.
"Not a good thing that the person you had sex with is a cop's daughter," the officer says on the video viewed by editors of the Mercury News. "The district attorney will probably file charges."
The officer removed cuffs and left.
The boy's parents, in a complaint to the San Jose Police Department, said they did not give the officer permission to scare or threaten their son. They also described his manner as angry and abusive.
After the parents filed their complaint, their son was arrested for unlawful sexual intercourse -- a misdemeanor for consensual sex between two minors of a similar age.
The Mercury News reports Santa Clara County prosecutors are reviewing the case, but have sent it back to the police department for more information.
Meanwhile, the officer's lawyer, Terry Bowman, tells the newspaper his client was just trying to scare the boy and never pretended to arrest him.
"He is doing (the boy's parents) a favor by attempting to lecture and educate the young man so he doesn't continue to go down the wrong path," Bowman tells the Mercury News.
The names in the case are not being released to protect the identities of the teenagers.

Lon Horiuchi V said...An SJPD IA Sgt told me in the '80's he did everything he could to disprove Citizen's ("Just civilians" in his words) complaints against the SJPD's "Fine Officers". Don't expect SJPD IA to not go after the complainant with all they have and cover for the Pig. SJPD An SJPD Vice Officer told me in the '70's the Vice Unit used to steal (misappropriate) unmarked police cars, beat and kidnap into the trunk people they couldn't make a case on, and drop them off in the Los Gatos hills after another beating, warning them to never come to San Jose again. He also said they get away with a lot, lot more than anybody will ever know about, but that was okay because they "have a tough job to do". SJPD IA doesn't want cops in IA who bid for IA jobs. They appoint cops who want nothing to do with IA so they won't go after "their own".

Wow that sounds like a typical Anglo name. Do you get "BW" monogrammed on your sheets, too?
You know the white seekend sheets you use for the cross burnings?
It's too bad we can't deport all the white meth users to another country. I am sure you'd have to go to bat for some family members.

Shocked said...Ummm...kids with parents like this hardly stand a chance in life. The parents of the boy are more worried about him feeling watched than getting a teenage girl pregnant. Sad!!! The father of the girl should have actually filed a complaint.

Dawn said...That cop needs to lose his badge. His actions were serious abuse of power and he knew it, he also knew he was intimidating the parents who believed him to be there in an official compacity. He was very well aware of the situation he was creating and as such it cannot be tolerated. If indeed he does lose his badge he will blame the boy and his family rather than recognize he and his wife failed to teach their daughter to keep her pants on!

Randy said...Now if any of us law abiding citzens filmed a 14 and a 15 year old having sex, we would be under the jail quicker than we could blink and charged with kiddy porn and have to register as a sex offender, just because this guy is a police officer he still should have to face the same punishment

Usually, only girls get punishment for having sex (called BAD girls) and not boys (called STUDs). The cop wasn't interested in punishing the boy, just scaring him. Even the cop doesn't want to punish males who have sex. We don't know what he did about his stepdaughter.

Judy Robinson said...This is exactly why most people have no respect for a cop anymore. Anyone else would be in deep s*** for this. Example, the black man in Fl whose handicapped daughter was being harassed. He, last I read, was facing charges. This was consentual.

Ramin said...If I were that cop, your son's ass would on the grass and I would be the lawn mower. Defending your son action for having sex with a 14 year old girl is a crime all by itself and will make you a culprit to the crime. These two idiots are approving their criminal son'e behavior by saying that;" it is OK to rape a minor". This is how a future wife beater and a rapist is made.

I think it is funny that the people saying that they would kick the @#$*! out of the boy, beat him etc....are also the people who don't know how to spell or use correct grammar. Only the ignorant would think that beating the boy, kicking him, or using violence to "teach him a lesson" are appropriate responses to teen sexual activity; which, by the way, is nothing new. Teens have hormones and sex drives, and teenagers having consensual sex has always been an issue. It does not help to criminalize such consensual behavior, nor does it help to threaten violence. Also, why do all of the violent responders talk about beating up the boy? It takes two to tango. The girl and the boy both made the decision, and both are responsible for their choices.

He didn't have the balls to show up in civilian clothes and discuss the matter. He should be sued as well -- his actions were no better than a civilian who dresses up like a police officer and does the same thing.
