Uniontown police Sgt. Jonathan Grabiak told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that a nurse smelled the marijuana when she took a cigarette break in the same area, and a hospital security guard called police about 3:20 a.m.
Grabiak says the man told him, "I'm having a baby and wanted to get a buzz" and then pulled a bag of marijuana from his shoe.
The man was released to a family member and made to leave the hospital.

If tobacco wasn't being smoked by every politician and journalist when Nixon put marijuana in the scheduled drug acts worse category then it would be illegal too and the nurse would be in trouble. Although the fact that either of them were smoking anything within 1000 feet of a hospital is criminal. Nixon's advisers told him when he formed the DEA and the scheduled drug act that marijuana was not in the same league as more dangerous substances and shouldn't be given the worse rating, but he ignored them. Nixon hated the youth culture movement and wanted to hit them where he thought it hurt most, so that is why marijuana is in a category 1 instead of a 3 or not at all. Marijuana is a schedule 1 and Cocaine is a 2, that makes no sense at all does it?

But smoke is still smoke don't do it around your kid please. Use of vaporizers for marijuana consumption is where it's at, it's better for the lungs than smoking. People we should be lobbying Washington to move the schedule level of Marijuana down some levels at least a 2 so medical research can move forward and even lower if common sense prevailed. Hell our own sitting President smoked it in the past and he's the fricken President now, so it must not be the destroyer that the moral right wants you to believe. Most of us baby boomers know the truth but for some reason are afraid to make a stand, join local and national groups and clubs for the decriminalization or legalization of marijuana at least, lets get some laws changed. We already have driving under the influence laws and public intoxication laws to protect us against the stupid use of substances so why demonize and turn citizens into criminals for a fricken organic plant. Even alcohol has been processed and chemically altered in most cases but marijuana is organic and natural more so than most foods.

oldmev said...I tend to agree that his judgment was not the best. I find it equally interesting that a nurse who must see the destruction of cigarette smoking in her work would still use them. But each individual has a right to treat their body as they want as long as others are not negatively affected IMO.
The Dad should have made it a more private celebration, but it does show how society can view two things differently even though both substances have there negative points.

Robert said...unioutown isn't really a part of Pa. It is just a place we send morons and idiots and the very lowest IQ people. The rule was supposed to be that they would be stopped from procreating. I am not sure how this one got around the system but I am sure they snipped him after that little tirade. Others from uniontown stuck up for him in the blog here but I am sure they have been sedated by now and are fast asleep where they belong.

And I can tell you that the only idiot that shouldn't be procreating is you. You can find idiots everywhere, for example, like when you look in a mirror. But keep in mind, that only these types of stories ever make it to the national news. Why? Because they don't have the major crimes like everywhere else. These piddly little "stories" are all that goes on! Certainly nothing anywhere near what happens elsewhere in the United States. Fayette County is steeped in history and is some of the most beautiful scenic areas you will ever find in this nation. Its a shame you've apparently never been outside your little dungeon to find out, if you've ever even been there at all. Troll!

I go along with the writer that said your child is born and the first thing you have to do is get high??? C'mon....fact is, you know as well as I do, this guy is a loser! ikon said...i know this man the real fact is the nurse never seen anyone smoking any pot and he was stopped by the cop almost an hour after the fact. this guy awake for 2 days already in a hospital chair. his 4 amendment rights were violated . it is also illegal for the police and the hospiatl to announce a birth to the press. she "smelled pot"? that means she either smokes it, or hangs wth people that do. noone ever seen a lit joint or anyone smoking one.
