Miley Cyrus Caught Taking Bong Hits of Salvia: 'Is It Me Tripping?'

It's been a year peppered with scandal for Miley Cyrus. She did a bit of underage drinking and, of course, there's been a near constant uproar over her provocative choices in stage attire. Now comes a fresh scandal, and this one involves a big old bong.
A video obtained by TMZ shows the 'Hannah Montana' star taking hits from a bong that was reportedly filled with a natural herb called salvia, which when smoked has psychedelic qualities. Possession of salvia is currently legal in California. The video was reportedly taken five days after Miley turned 18.
According to the report, the video was shot by one of Miley's friends and it is very possible that someone stole or copied the video from that person's camera.
The video begins with Cyrus taking a hit from the large bong as the song 'Comedown' by '90s rock band Bush plays in the background. After a few moments, she comes up for air and immediately begins to feel the effects of the drug. Soon, she's seeing things that aren't there, including her ex-boyfriend Liam Hemsworth."
"Oh, I'm not gonna lose it now ... I'm going," she says. "Having a little bit of a bad trip! Is that a f**king Liam lookalike or what the hell is that? Is that my boyfriend? Is that my boyfriend? Oh my God, he looks so much like Liam!"
She then points to her head and asks a friend, "Is it me tripping? Is it me tripping?"
It's then that Cyrus begins to laugh uncontrollably, before asking the camerawoman (who is egging the star to keep talking), "Oh my God, are you being as weird as I think you are right now?"
The video closes with a stream of incoherent babbling and grunting from Cyrus and her friend telling her that she is "going to s**t a brick when you see this."
Salvia is known to provide a brief-but-extreme hallucinatory experience when smoked. According to a news report from Current TV, "Its [salvia's] long-term effects are not well understood, but the immediate effects can be dramatic ... for five minutes, the highly-concentrated form of this drug can render people totally incapacitated."
"It is by far and away the most potent naturally-occurring hallucinogen," Dr. Brian Roth, head of a national drug screening program at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, told Current. "This drug targets this one receptor and when it hits that receptor it turns it on and then causes this profound alteration in how people view reality."
Miley had celebrated her 18th birthday a few days before the actual date (Nov. 23) at a private party where she was reportedly spotted with Nickelodeon star Avan Jogia.
In October, after 17 years of marriage, Miley's parents, Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus, filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. Rumor was that singer Bret Michaels had an affair with Tish, but the rocker told PopEater he did not have an affair with Tish and he's not the reason Billy Ray and Tish are getting divorced.

It's not like they're intelligent human beings with their own thoughts...oh wait. How about this, try TALKING to your kids, people. Instead of just telling them what not to do and who not to like, sit them down and let them tell you what they think and what they feel and what their opinions are. I think you'd be surprised at how analytical and intelligent an 8 year old can be. I don't agree with what Miley's doing, but I do know that my father's attempts at telling me what to do and what to think and who to idolize alienated me faster than my mom's laissez-fair attitude. The moment my parents didn't care what I liked and started paying attention to what I thought, I gave up Spice Girls for Led Zeppelin and was a very well-behaved kid.

So what if she smokes something that is legal, it's not being a bad role model if she's not doing things to get her in trouble. However so what if she was smoking pot who care? Why do you?
And people wonder why celebrities go nuts and need rehab and counseling, they are constantly bombarded with everyone's opinions and have pressure on them constantly to be a specific person whom is probably nothing at all like who they naturally are. It's not fair and people need to understand that, put yourself in her shoes.
Also her friend who is filming her is behind it. She egged her on and even encouraged her to keep smoking it and making more of an ass of herself. I don't think it was stolen I think she did it because she's stupid.
Miley get real friends who wont blast everything you do on the internet. You don't deserve to have people do this to you if they were your friends they wouldn't have allowed this video to be seen. It's obvious it would cause problems.

"My daughter will never fall into the situations that all of these other teen stars have fallen into" or something to that extent. I laughed then and I laugh now. She is a kid, a very youn kid who is trying to ACT older and act more mature and SHE IS NOT. While my daughter is grown, I teach children at the high school level. We have talks about the situations that this young woman gets herself into. She is NOT someone to idolize. I tell my kids you are the person you want others to immulate. You are not a copy of someone else, you are YOU and live that kinds of live. she is going to fall into worse situations possible falling into the Lindsey Lohan pattern. Hopefully not. HOpefully Daddy can get her on the straight and narrow. Do I foresee that, NO, but one can pray for this child's growing up and maturing into what all parents want to see and not to what she is becoming.

Michelle said...We as parents have a right to judge our children's influences, whether it be their friends or celebrities they idolize. How else are they going to learn? By hanging out with losers? I'm sure you wouldn't want your kids's hanging out with someone who does drugs, or even idolizing someone who does. We are supposed to teach our children to make friends with those who are kind and care about themselves and others. It is our job to teach them and guide them to make good choices about what they do, who they hang out with, and even which celebrities they like. Unfortunately, Miley didn't have enough parental guidance; her parents cared more about her being famous. I guess you can look at this at a teaching moment to young fans of Miley, as an example of how not to be when you turn 18.
